Speed of My Moving Object


Purpose:
Determine the speed of a moving object over a 30 foot distance.



Materials and Activites: stopwatch, yard stick, tennis ball, roller blades, skateboard, bicycle, remote control vehicle, 10 yd scamper .


Procedure:

  1. Choose any 3 events to participate in.

  2. Ready oneself or object in staging area.

  3. Begin event when timer gives start signal.

  4. Move object or self quickly and safely though marked off area.

  5. Return for time and record in data table.

  6. Repeat step 5 again, when it is your turn. Repeat steps 2-5 for a second event

  7. Using the formula for speed v=d/t calculate your own velocities.

  8. use the conversion table top change your velocities into miles per hour.

  9. Hand in your completed lad for credit.
