large fusion reactor.
Info: Tau Class is an old design and isn't used
almost at all anymore. First Tau Classes were seen before the Gorg war started,
where they
were a next generation destroyer, but ever since it has slowly lost its position.
Tau class was designed to be a next generation medium and light destroyer,
so
even at the time it was built it was already quite weak. Taus quickly lost
their position as a medium destroyers and became one of the light destroyers
in the
GF military, which were used pretty much only to destroy small targets or to
perform patrols and scout missions. Taus did serve the GF military well during
the
Gorg and Dominion war, but when the Lightness war started Taus had already
lost their position so much that no more were built and some had already been
decommissioned.
Lightness also liked kicking Taus' assess pretty much since Lightness destroyed
almost ALL Tau class destroyers during the Lightness war. Only about 15 Taus
survived from the Lightness war, these were even considered to be historical
ships, because of their old age. About 4 of those ships that survived were
decommissioned, one was changed into a museum and the rest became colonial
defense ships, even that Taus never really were any special ships. Currently
the 'museum' Tau is orbiting
the
Nimekal
5.
Here's a picture of Tau.
Gamma Class
Light Destroyer
Engines: Three heavy impulse engines, several
small impulse engines.
FTL drive: Jump drive MkII medium version.
Size length: 280 m
Size Width: 110 m
Armor: Poor capital ship armor.
Weapons: Ten Incinerator Beams, 17 light Incinerator Beams and two torpedo launchers.
Shields: Energy shields 20 000.
Special Equipment: None.
Fighters: 8 fighters.
Max. crew: 1 800
Norm. Crew: 400
Min. crew: 2
Cargo space: 30 m³
Capable of landing to planet: Yes.
Capable of atmospheric flight: Yes.
Reactors: One large Antimatter reactor and
one large fusion reactor.
Info: Gamma is more like an upgraded version
of the Tau destroyer. Gamma is faster and more maneuverable than Tau, but
has
little lesser weaponry, though does have quiet a lot of weaponry compared
to its size. Gammas came into use during the Dominion war, to make smaller,
faster,
but still almost as powerful ship as the Tau. Gammas totally replaced Taus
in the Lightness war. In the Lightness war Gammas served as a multi-role
ship,
sometimes they were used as a fighter killers, sometimes attack ships, sometimes
defense ship and so on. Lots of Gammas were destroyed in the war, still many
survived
from it as well. Gammas have also been seen in the past conflicts, most notably
in the GA-IPA conflict. Several Gammas destroyed and disabled several IPA
outposts. Gammas are currently one of the main light capital ships in the
GA military.
Here's picture of Gamma.
Barracuda
Class Light Destroyer
Engines: Two heavy impulse engines.
FTL drive: Jump drive MkII medium version.
Size length: 260 m
Size Width: 70 m
Armor: Poor capital ship armor.
Weapons: Two heavy Incinerator Beam, Eight medium
Incinerator Beams, 12 light Incinerator Beams and two torpedo launchers.
Shields: Energy shields 30 000.
Special Equipment: None.
Fighters: None.
Max. crew: 4 000
Norm. Crew: 400
Min. crew: 2
Cargo space: 27 m³
Capable of landing to planet: Yes.
Capable of atmospheric flight: Yes.
Reactors: One large Antimatter reactor and one
large fusion reactor.
Info: Barracuda is very old design. First Barracudas
were introduced before the H'Vos war, so they are REALLY old. Several of them
served in the Gorg war, but already there they started to become lesser used.
Then again in the Dominion war, lots of Barracudas were used and lots of them
were destroyed as well. In the H'Vos war, Barracudas played a great role,
but in the wars after that, their role has become smaller and smaller and
nowadays they are no longer used at all. Few have been converted into a museums;
explaining the events that occurred during the war. Last Barracudas were either
decommissioned or destroyed in the Lightness war. No Barracudas remain in
active service anymore.
Here's a picture of Barracuda.
Corvus Corax
Class Light Destroyer
Engines: Four heavy impulse engines.
FTL drive: Jump drive MkI heavy version.
Size length: 560 m
Size Width: 130 m
Armor: Good capital ship armor.
Weapons: Five heavy Incinerator Beam, 16 medium
Incinerator Beams, 30 light Incinerator Beams and two torpedo launchers.
Shields: Energy shields 65 000.
Special Equipment: None.
Fighters: 50 fighters.
Max. crew: 8 000
Norm. Crew: 700
Min. crew: 10
Cargo space: 50 m³
Capable of landing to planet: Yes.
Capable of atmospheric flight: Yes.
Reactors: Two large Antimatter reactors and one
large fusion reactor.
Info: Corvus Corax is quite new ship actually,
it was designed to be more powerful than the Tau, but still not to be too
big or too slow. Corvus Corax has more weapons, better shielding, more fighters
and better armor than the Tau, it's also a little faster and more maneuverable
than the Tau destroyer. Still Gammas are used more than these, probably because
Gammas are faster and smaller than the Corvus Coraxs. Corvus Coraxs were first
introduced in the Lightness war. They had been mass produced before it so
there were quite many of them when the war begun. They proved to be valuable
asset to the Gigerdi Alliance and earned their place in the GA fleet. Even
that they didn't become so widely used they still became more used than the
Taus. After the war, more were built and pretty a lot of these ships were
seen in the GA-IPA conflict, many of them were disabled as well. Corvus Coraxs
are nowadays used most to patrol GA's borders, mostly because these ships
have really advanced sensors, which have very long range as well.
Here's a picture of Corvus Corax.
Hyperion-R
Class Medium Destroyer
Engines: Four heavy impulse engines.
FTL drive: Jump drive MkI heavy version.
Size length: 2 km
Size Width: 400 m
Armor: Average capital ship armor.
Weapons: Three heavy pulse cannons, six heavy
Incinerator Beams, 20 medium Incinerator Beams, 50 light Incinerator Beams,
three missile launchers and six torpedo launchers.
Shields: Energy shields 260 500.
Special Equipment: Advanced sensors, cloak detectors
and mine sweepers.
Fighters: 85 fighters.
Max. crew: 19 000
Norm. Crew: 2 100
Min. crew: 100
Cargo space: 400 m³
Capable of landing to planet: No.
Capable of atmospheric flight: No.
Reactors: Three large Antimatter reactors and
three large fusion reactors.
Info: Hyperion-R Class, or maybe better know
as the Hyperion-Rho Class destroyer, is quite new design. GA research&
exploration wanted to make a more powerful version of the Hyperion class,
but still remain the same hull design, just add more space. Hyperion-Rhos
are a lot more powerful and bigger than the original Hyperions, but might
be a bit more slower and less maneuverable. Hyperion-R didn't go straight
into service, but went into a test phase first to prove that they are worth
of becoming one of the destroyers in the GA military. They went through a
secret test phase, but it couldn't prove how would they perform in real combat
situations. First situation to test these ships came when the GA-IPA conflict
started, only about five of these had been built at that time. Hyperion-Rhos
did perform well in the GA-IPA conflict. They still yet weren't able to go
to active service, even that it was really close that they would have gone.
Then next time they were seen in battle when was the attack to Emissary control
world, and about 10 Hyperion-Rhos had been built at that time. After that
they went into active service, though not much of these ships have been built
more will come soon. Hyperion-Rhos main job seems to be assisting Omega-Rhos
because Hyperion-Rhos are faster and more maneuverable.
Here is picture of Hyperion-R class destroyer.
Merr-Sonn
Class Medium Attack Destroyer
Max. Crew: 1040
Min. Crew: 500
Length: 835 m
Weapons: Seven photon pulse turrets, one rail-gun
launcher, Two capital ships missile launchers, four light laser turrets, two
energy mine launchers, one medium meson gun.
Shields: 80 000
Special Equipment: None.
Fighters: None.
Cargo space: 100 m³
Capable of landing to planet: No.
Capable of atmospheric flight: No.
Info: The Merr-sonn destroyer was created during
the border disputes between the Gigerdi Empire(Official government) and the
Independent Gigerdian Federation (Independent state) at the end of the first
Gigerdi civil war. The creator was the defected gigerdian ship designer Gerlus
Devook who helped Kyle(the leader of the independent state) Gigerdi to bring
their fleets up to date. The results were good, but one of the biggest one
was the Merr-sonn class medium destroyer. It carried a lot of troops and equipment
for a medium scale planetary invasion, these ships were deployed into the
borders within the months and years. The ship also had a lot of cargo space
for other needful equipment, it also stood its ground against several
dominion invasions at a time. The primary energy source for the ship
is a A-59 fusion reactor with a maximum generating output of 3,6 terawatts.
Like most of the old GA military ships, the Merr-sonn uses a dry fusion plant.
The basic fuel for the plant is a crystalline powder form of lithium hydride(LiH)
the basic gravity of the fuel is 0,82 metric tons per cubic meter, making
it extremely space efficient, avoiding the problems of cryogenic storage associated
with civilian reactors fueled by heavy hydrogen isotopes such as deuterium
and tritium. There were only a few of the Merr-sonns built, in fact only 93
of them were destroyed during the Dominion war and the rest of them were accepted
into the GA fleets when it was formed. The Hephaestus republic acquired one
of the older Merr-sonns recently and have begun to modify it to their needs.
Here's a picture of Merr-Sonn in space.
Omega Class
Medium Destroyer
Max. Crew: 550
Min. Crew: 130
Length: 820 m
Weapons: 12 Fix mounted pulse cannons, six medium
pulse cannons, four particle beam cannons at front and at aft and Interceptor
grid.
Shields: 65 000
Special Equipment: Only rotating section has
gravity.
Fighters: 33 Fighters.
Cargo space: 70 m³
Capable of landing to planet: No.
Capable of atmospheric flight: No.
Info: The Omega class destroyers were also one
of the many ships introduced at the beginning of the Third bacterian war.
The Omega had a new (Or pretty new) rotating section which created the gravity
to the ship. It was one of the many classes used in the Bacterian front in
the war which was a good idea to do. Because of the Bacterians lack of strategic
skills the Huge destroyers took several Bacterian ships with them when they
were destroyed, the Omegas were supreme! After the Bacterian war the Omegas
were used in the second Gigerdian civil war and finally in the Lightness war.
There were at least 500 000 Omegas built, but all the recent conflicts have
reduced the amount to mere 250 000 omegas and still dropping
The Omegas
main weapons were particle beams located at front and aft of the ship. It
also had several pulse cannons in it's defensive arsenal and an interceptor
grid against swarms of Bacterian fighters. The Omega used the Hyperspace drive
as its jump drive and ion engines as its other propulsion system. There are
still some Omegas left, but pretty soon they won't be a part of the alliance's
ship arsenal.
Here's picture of Omega in space.
Horus Class
Medium Destroyer
Engines: Four heavy impulse engines.
FTL drive: Jump drive MkI heavy version.
Size length: 2,5 km
Size Width: 625 m
Armor: Average capital ship armor.
Weapons: 10 heavy Incinerator Beams, 35 medium
Incinerator Beams, 65 light Incinerator Beams, three missile launchers
and
three torpedo launchers.
Shields: Energy shields 300 000.
Special Equipment: None.
Fighters: 80 fighters.
Max. crew: 15 000
Norm. Crew: 2 400
Min. crew: 20
Cargo space: 400 m³
Capable of landing to planet: No.
Capable of atmospheric flight: No.
Reactors: Two large Antimatter reactors and three
large fusion reactors.
Info: Horus is quite new design, which has been
designed only for combat purposes. First Horuses were introduced in the Lightness
war, though the ship itself wasn't designed to fight only against Lightness,
but to possible new threats that GA might encounter, Lightness just happened
to be the first. Horus had extremely heavy weaponry, good shielding and quite
good speed and maneuverability so it was an excellent combat vessel. The bad
side with Horus is that it has quite bad long range sensors, which doesn't
make it so good patrol ship or scout ship. In the past conflicts Horus has
played quite big role, several of them were at the Gigerdi Prime when the
Emissaries attacked and few of them were also destroyed there. Horuses have
earned their place in the GA fleet and are used as one of the GA's destroyers.
Here's a picture of Horus.
Mars Class Heavy
Destroyer
Engines: Eight heavy impulse engines.
FTL drive: Jump drive MkII heavy version.
Size length: 4 km
Size width: 1,4 km
Armor: Good capital ship armor.
Weapons: 15 heavy Incinerator Beams, 50 medium
Incinerator Beams, 90 light Incinerator Beams, 20 medium pulse cannons,
120
small turrets, 70 light pulse cannons, 15 missile launchers and 8 torpedo
launchers.
Shields: Energy shield 400 000.
Special Equipment: Advanced sensors, mine laying
capabilities and point-defense systems.
Fighters: 20 fighters.
Max. crew: 38 000.
Norm. Crew: 5 000
Min. crew: 900
Cargo space: 600 m³
Capable of landing to planet: Yes.
Capable of atmospheric flight: Yes.
Reactors: Three large Antimatter reactors and
Four large fusion reactors.
Info: Mars Class is also a new addition to the
GA military fleet. It has been modified quite a lot from the Human
Steamrunner class. Mars Class was designed to fight against Lightness,
even that two Mars class vessels were already built during the Dominion war,
however they were weaker than the current versions. Mars is really powerful
ship and has only been meant to serve as a warship. Mars classes are one of
the most powerful destroyers currently in service, but even that they are
really tough and have excellent firepower they are not so much used, currently
there's about 30 Mars Class destroyers in the GA military. Mars class is also
even quite fast and quite maneuverable. In the Lightness war only about seven
Mars classes were seen and even those proved that the Mars class is a formidable
warship that can resist even Lightness vessels. In the GA-IPA conflict lots
of Mars class destroyers were destroyed, about 20 of them were destroyed and
about 29 came out of the war alive, some of those had a lot of damage though.
Later Mars hasn't been seen in any of the other conflicts, but might be seen
in the future wars and conflicts.
Here's a picture of Mars.
Omega-R MkII
Class Heavy Destroyer
Engines: Four Heavy impulse engines.
FTL drive: Jump drive MkII heavy version.
Size length: 4 km.
Size width: 1,6 km.
Armor: Average capital ship armor.
Weapons: Two heavy pulse cannons front and two
at back, eight heavy Incinerator Beams, 35 medium Incinerator Beams, 50
light
Incinerator Beams, Four heavy particle disrupters, Four missile launchers,
Eight torpedo launchers.
Shields: Energy shields 420 000.
Special Equipment: Advanced sensors, mine sweepers,
cloak detector and sensor jammers.
Fighters: 100 fighters.
Max. crew: 30 000
Norm. Crew: 5 100
Min. crew: 1 000
Cargo space: 700 m³
Capable of landing to planet: No.
Capable of atmospheric flight: Yes.
Reactors: Two large Antimatter reactors and three
large fusion reactors.
Info: Omega-Rho MkII class is quite new design.
The MkI version of it wasn't the kind of ship that the GA research & exploration
wanted so they decided to do a MkII version of it. The MkI later became the
Hyperion-Rho class. Omega-Rho class is more powerful than the original Omega
or the Hyperion-Rho. Omega-Rho class first came out after the Lightness war
for testing phase. Omega-Rhos were then first seen in the GA-IPA conflict,
where about five of them were seen. Omega-Rho when straight after that to
active service, but Hyperion-Rho still had to stay in the testing phase. Omega-Rho
has the heavy pulse cannons, which are extremely powerful, but require a lot
of energy to fire them. Omega-Rho also no longer has the "rotating section"
which the original Omegas had to provide gravity. Currently only about 11
Omega-Rhos are in service, but it is predicted that more will come into service
soon.
Here is picture of Omega-R MkII destroyer .
Killer Class
Heavy Destroyer
Engines: Ten heavy Pulse-coil displacement engines.
FTL drive: Warp drive prototype.
Size length: 5 km
Size width: 2 km
Armor: Organic armor.
Weapons: Ten heavy plasma guns, 30 medium plasma
guns, 60 light plasma guns, 80 pulse Incinerator Beams, 120 flak guns, 60
anti-fighter beams and eight plasma torpedo launchers.
Shields: Energy shields 440 000.
Special Equipment: Advanced sensors and advanced
communications.
Fighters: 200 fighters.
Max. crew: 32 000
Norm. Crew: 6 500
Min. crew: 100
Cargo space: 800 m³
Capable of landing to planet: Yes.
Capable of atmospheric flight: Yes.
Reactors: Four large plasma reactors.
Info: Killer destroyer is a prototype ship, which
might be a start to a next generation of destroyers. Killer destroyer has lots
of new technology, which cannot be found on any other ship, like the pulse-coil
displacement engines or the warp drive prototype. The Pulse-coil displacement
engines are pretty much like impulse engines, but might be little better. Warp
drive prototype is a new kind of warp drive, which is a bit faster and better
than the jump drive, but might have some problems with certain ship systems,
further testing is proceeding. The plasma guns are new kind of plasma weapons,
which are even more powerful than any previous plasma weapons, but they require
a lot of power as well to heat up the plasma. The flak guns are also an experimental
anti-fighter weapon, it fires small explosive rounds at high refire-rate, which
then explode near the fighter inflicting moderate damage, Flak guns aren't so
good against capital ships. The anti-fighter beams are beam guns that do only
little of damage, but enough to inflict moderate damage to fighter. These lightly
powered guns partially pierce the fighter's shields, but cannot pierce any capital
ship's shields. Plasma reactors that provide power for this ship are also new
type of, no further information is yet available of them. Killers have only
been seen in the past Emissary conflicts, and there only two Killers have been
seen, one of those was destroyed in the attack to Emissary control world. Killers
didn't prove to be any better than previous GA ships in those battles, which
means that they are needed to be made better before they will come into active
service. The exact number of Killer destroyers remains classified.
Here's a picture of Killer.
