Characters (book)
Lord of the Rings began life as a book... and has recently been made into a major feature film. The story in itself is hugely woven and constantly changing, and frankly enough, would take far too long to explain. The basic story is this: A ring was made millenia ago, a ring which can destroy the world when wielded by it's master, Sauron. This ring nearly succeeded once before, when the last alliance of men and elves fought and vanquished Sauron. The ring was lost, out of time. It was found by a creature named Smeagol, later Gollum, who hoared the ring for over 500 years, when it passed to Bilbo Baggins, who in turn passed it to his heir, Frodo. Now it has come to pass that Sauron is rising again, and he is searching for his ring... and will kill the ring-bearer. Frodo needs to destory the ring, but to do do, he must travel to Mordor, land of Sauron, with a Fellowship of Nine.
This fellowship consists of Gandalf, a great wizard; Aragorn, son of Arathorn, the heir to the throne of Gondor... and heir of Isildur, who allowed the ring to stay whole, so he has chosen exile; Sam, Pippin and Merry, all hobbits and friends of Frodo; Legolas Greenleaf, Elven Prince of Mirkwood (and my fave); Gimli, a dwarf of the Misty Mountains; and Boromir, son of the current Steward of Gondor. Together, they must go to the depths of Mordor and destory the ring.
But what will befall them on the way? They must escape the threat of orcs and he Nazgul, most deadly servants of Sauron, and they must pass through deep and dangerous places, and lose memebers along the way. They will meet walking trees (I kid thee not) highest elves of all Middle Earth, forgotten realms and evnetually fight in the last battle. Will the Ring be destroyed?
Such is the nature of Lord of the Rings. I can't explain it anymore, my fingers are going flat at the tips! Questions email me...
