"Let me guess. It tastes like chicken, right?"
Carter laughed.
Jack gingerly poked the green lump on his plate with a fork.
"Oh, Colonel. It's not *that* scary," the major snickered.
"You've got mayonnaise on your cheek," Jack countered. "This can't be edible. It looks like a mutant weed from--what's that planet on Star Trek where the flowers shot Spock?"
"Look," Daniel offered. He tore a leaf from the green ball on his own plate, and dipped it in salad dressing, and scraped the green flesh off the fiber with his teeth.
"That's so reassuring, coming from the guy who went native on Abydos."
"Uh, like you haven't 'gone native' anywhere..."
Jack glanced at Teal'c for support, but the Jaffa had already consumed half of his wad of green.
"Show off," he grumbled, in Teal'c's general direction.
The Jaffa smirked.
"Well, if you're not going to eat it, I will," said Daniel, extending a hand toward Jack's plate.
"Be my guest," Jack said. "I think I saw Martha Stewart say the leaves aren't worth the effort."
He'd faced Apophis, winning and losing. He'd faced Ra. But when it came to eating an artichoke, he had to back down. There were limits to his bravery, after all.
