A Life Less Ordinary
Actual Information: Directed by Danny Boyle (he of Trainspotting and Shallow Grave notoriety), A Life Less Ordinary is a romantic comedy starring Ee-wan and Cameron Diaz. The plot features a kidnapping, some angels, fate, a bank robbery, and karaoke. The film came out (not in that way) in 1997 and was instantly denounced as being the Anti-Christ for not being about drugs and/or grisly deaths. This is a great shame as the film is actually rather good.
Less Reliable Stuff: It is, in fact, fabulous. OK, so it's a romantic comedy, but don't let that put you off. It's one of the very few romantic comedies that are actually any good. It avoids the usual pitfall of the genre (dumping the comedy in favour of slush) and achieves consistent creation of the thing humans call "laughter".
