HISTORY: Cosmic is an alien entity from the same race as sometimes-hero Raven. Each cosmic being of his race was blessed with control over a certain aspect of the cosmos, and Cosmic was gifted with control over time and all it's elements. Able to live for millions of years, Cosmic began to go mad from the power he controlled. Finally, he began to travel back and forth in time and one by one erase the other members of his race from existence. The only being he left alive was Raven, who had been cast out of his race's elite society for possessing the crime of a conscience.

Cosmic moved from planet to planet, feeding on life energies and growing ever stronger. He finally came to earth, where Raven had taken refuge, and deduced that the only real threat to his domination of the peaceful planet were the X-Women. Playing one of his 'games' Cosmic infiltrated the team in the guise of a human man, Rogue's old flame 'Zeke'. He also went back in time and introduced himself to Rogue when she was still a lost and scared teenage girl. Cosmic also came into contact with Wolverine on his trip, and the mutant woman recognized him when he came calling in the present.

Wolverine and Sabretooth finally exposed Cosmic for what he was, but they were too late to stop his rampage. He thrust Wolverine, Icegirl and Sabretooth into an alternate past and erased Cerebro and Cyclops's husband Slash from existence. Finally, Raven and a newly telepathic Gambit devised a way to cast Cosmic through a psychic wormhole and into a parallel dimension, where he would be unable to return. The X-Women paid the ultimate price for victory, however, as Cosmic captured Remy's soul and took it through the wormhole with him, leaving the Cajun mutant dead. Remy eventually found his way back to the proper dimension, but Cosmic has never returned.
