POWERS: Deus Ex has the psionic power to plant suggestions deep in his target's unconscious, causing them to perform the actions he dictates, sometimes months later, and an advanced IQ. Potentia has advanced strength and the ability to absorb kinetic impact with no harm to herself. Deus Ex and Potentia are twins, and can mentally link themselves to become greater than their whole, enabling them to cast terrifying illusions on a large scale and telepathically manipulate up to five thousand people at one time. Linked together, the twins can also fly and discharge bolts of kinetic energy.

HISTORY: It's a partnership that goes back to the earliest human history - the brains and the brawn. Twin children born less than a minute apart, Deus Ex and Potentia realized at a young age that they could telepathically communicate with each other. Deus Ex's psionic powers grew and manifested as his mutation, while Potentia developed into a formidable fighter.

The twins were content to merely rob and plunder for a time, but soon the ultra-intelligent Deus Ex began to have visions of building an unstoppable army to conquer the world. His first targets were the X-Women, whom he intended to separate and spread over the globe under his will to recruit other mutants and stage a coup when the moment came. He telepathically manipulated Wolverine into killing a member of the Friends of Humanity, and because of that she was expelled from the X-Women and traveled to Japan where she became embattled with the twin's mysterious ally Masque. This was just as Deus Ex had planned, implanting mental commands into both Wolverine and Cyclops's unconscious to bring the feral mutant to the land of the rising sun.

Deus Ex's grand plan was undone when the insane Masque infected Wolverine with an adamantium-eating virus as a personal vendetta. The rest of the X-Women discovered the link between Masque and the twins, and in a battle royale Potentia was killed and Deus Ex captured and sent to the mutant prisons on Genosha to live out his days.
