HISTORY: A Satanic cult seeking to bring about Hell on earth, the Followers of M conduct their rituals in secret tunnels built far below New York City. When the time is right, they will conduct a ceremony to open the gates of hell using three sacred objects - a pendant, a book and the blood of the being known as the Destroyer. In modern day New York, semi-reformed thief Remy LeBeau stole the Follower's priceless pendant, knowing nothing of it's power. When the pendant was found by Beast to be emitting a low-level psionic impulse that caused everyone around it to hallucinate terrifying visions and behave abnormally, Remy delved deeper into the man he'd stolen the pendant from and stumbled into the middle of the Followers of M. Believing Remy was the Destroyer because of his red eyes and the fact that he'd led the Marauders in eradicating the tunnel-dwelling Morlocks, allowing the Followers to return to their ritual chamber, the cult kidnapped Remy and attempted to sacrifice him in the gate-opening ceremony. The X-Women rescued their comrade, destroyed the mystical pendant and defeated the cult, and the Followers of M became just another New York legend. |
