Welcome to the Savage Garden part of the site.
I know this is a Star Wars site because my little brother reminds me of that fact every day. But I just couldn't help myself! :)
I always told myself that if Savage Garden came to Denver Colorado I'd go see them, but I never dreamed I really would! The person reading this might say "You're crazy! Making such a big fuss over a concert!"
Well, it was my very first and it was very awesome. And according to my friends, my story is very awesome too. Well, I don't think it's that good, but here goes!
I first heard of Savage Garden from my friend Ben (no, not Ben Kenobi!!), I was at his house and he was blasting a song called "I Want You." The people in the song were singing so fast the only words I could pick out were "Sweet like a chic-a-cherry cola."
I asked him who was singing the song he replyed "A couple dudes called Savage Garden." Then I asked him "What's a "chic-a-cherry cola"?" :)
I think that was sometime in June of 1998. In July I heard that song again, at my sister's wedding. Only it wasn't "I Want You", it was a song called "Truly, Madly, Deeply."
I heard them alot on the radio after that and for Christmas I got the CD. One of my favorite songs on the first CD is "Santa Monica" because the first time I heard it it sounded like he said "Modern name like Jake or Mindy." And it just so happens to be that my real name is Mindy.
Well, I found from reading the CD liner that he says "Jake or Mandy," not Mindy. :(
That year (1998) I was trying so hard to go see Savage Garden that I forgot to check the Internet to see if they were coming close to Denver. In winter of '98 my older sister and my brother-in-law came to visit us, we took a ride to Red Rocks and they had a listing of all the bands that had ever played there. And Savage Garden was one of those bands, they had been in Denver that July!
