| The Death Star, the massive space-worthy battle station designed to bring peace and order to the Empire, was attacked and destroyed yesterday by a group of terrorists claiming to be part of the "Rebel Alliance". Sources inside the Imperial Navy report that at 1100 hours, Standard Coruscant Time, a large swarm of fighters descended upon the station and overwhelmed its defences. A design flaw, apparently created by a traitor in the Death Star construction team, allowed the terrorists to destroy the station before a full counterattack could be launched. "It was insanity," Moff Trenkurst, one of the command crew on board, told reporters earlier today. "The ships came in fast, and without warning. We barely had time to contact them and ask for valid transponder codes before they began attacking." Moff Trenkurst was among the few who managed to escape the station before it was destroyed. Deaths are estimated in the hundreds of thousands. Emperor Palpatine issued a statement earlier today, exclaiming his disgust at this terrible tragedy and pointing out the need for even better and more powerful superweapons, such as the Death Star. Lord Darth Vader, who witnessed the attack first-hand and barely escaped, vowed to hunt down the so-called "Rebel Alliance" and bring the pilots responsible for the attack to justice. |
