When fans first saw the trailer for "Star Wars: Episode I: The Phantom Menace", their hearts stopped and their eyes lit up at the sight of Darth Maul igniting his double-bladed lightsabre. This week, fans had that experience again when they viewed the first snapshot from Episode 2, which featured Anakin Skywalker...running. The background was blurred to hide most of the action and scenery, but it was clear what our hero was doing. Through digital enhancement of the photo, we've established that he is not simply stretching or taking a very long stride. The position of his arms indicates that he is without a doubt running. And with that, fans around the world check off another item on their Episode 2 "Wish List". The question remains, however: why is he running? Is he running away from an army of Mandalorians? Is he running toward the Sark Side? Is he in a race of some sort? Was he poisoned in the Jedi Temple by the Mandalorian forces who were contracted out by the Sith under the direction of Palpatine, so that he is now running to the hopital, where Sith agents or perhaps an unscrupulous doctor will steal a sample of his DNA and make a clone army? Quite simply, it doesn't matter. The fact is that Anakin WILL be running at some point in Episode 2, and that's really what the fans want. Run, Ani. Run. |
