ABC KIDS
(Updated: 3/28/08) There you go. The final numbers for PROO on ABC Kids. And, they are abysmal. (Hey, ABC -- see what happens when you're OK with putting a show in the hands of a showrunner who PUBLICLY ADMITS HE DOESN'T CARE FOR THIS TYPE OF PROGRAM? That's right. Bruce Kalish, in a published interview, says shows like PR don't interest him all that much. Go figure) We get a 27% dropoff from what had been a fairly standard average for the previous three seasons, all of which had each episode premiere on cable first. I don't think we'll ever see the averages go back to the 0.9-1.0 range on broadcast. Especially not for PRJF, which was allowed to develop a five-week lag between the cable premieres and the ABC debuts. Here's the final version of the average chart, which shows the final .70 number for PROO. You do have to take note in that the PROO run concluded with four weeks of reruns -- something not done with the previous series.
A long straight line usually means a stretch of pre-emptions or unreported ratings. (SPD 30-42 is eight football pre-empts and four weeks where the ratings were such that the 0.95 average didn't change) Week 22 is omitted from the chart since there was no report that week for PRMF and was/is a pre-emption for SPD and PROO. Also, since it took ABC a total of 54 weeks to show all of SPD, some of the unreported weeks at the end of the run were omitted in order to fit into the site's limit of 50 spaces. This one shows the week-by-week ratings of the three programs. The second half of the run has started so I need to start a second chart. As you can see, we've now run out of weeks to plot each week's numbers. The above chart will show all remaining numbers but the graphs pretty much tell the tale and I doubt much will change with the three remaining PROO time slots. The final first-half chart will be kept up for comparative purposes. The SPD and MF lines show the actual rating (since they only had one time slot) while OO shows the average of the two slots in each week:
And, the first-half chart:
Blank weeks and discontinuous lines reflect weeks that were either pre-empted or unreported.
(Saturday mornings) (PRMF average: 0.45 / 1.81) (PROO average: 0.54 / 2.42) (PRJF average: 0.62 / 2.80)
I'm keeping the ABC Family summary up for a reference point, even though the channel is no longer airing kids shows.
(PRWF average: 0.95 rating / 4.67 share) (PRNS average: 1.17 rating / 5.86 share) (PRDT average: 1.05 of 11 reported) (PRSPD average: 0.71 rating / 3.33 share) (SPD new eps only: 0.75 / 3.50)
