Power Rangers airing ever in the United States.

| Unlike the Schedule page, this archive will not use color coding for different seasons, or BoPR/PRG, or new episodes. It WILL use the red "NEW EPISODE" flag for each premiere showing and the green "NEW MMPR v2" flag for the one season of reversioned MMPR. Also, Fox affiliates had the option of airing the weekday Fox Kids block in either the morning or the afternoon. The usual network morning time is shown here.
NOTE: If a box is shaded in gray, it's one of those infuriating dates where we KNOW a PR episode was shown that day but we just can't lock down which one. If episode information is shown in a gray-shaded box, it's what is widely available and -- don't get me wrong -- has a darn good chance of being accurate. But it doesn't have that one last bit of lock-it-down verification. For the purposes of the UPRS, that requires independent confirmation, which entails published or released schedule info. That info from the early-to-mid 1990s is really, REALLY hard to uncover.

| WHY SOME PREMIERE DATES HAVE CHANGED
While most of the PR fandom focuses on the 2013 20th anniversary, I and my UPRS cohorts have been combining old and new information that leads us to believe that the Original Air Date (OAD) for as many as eight Season 1 episodes should be different than what's commonly found.
Why question that commonly found list of OADs in the first place, you ask? Well, it's fact that that 'Epguides list' (which is what I'll call it) was generated sometime around 1997 and 1998 and for as well-intentioned as that effort was, some of those OADs are the result of best recollections and educated guesses. So, they're very much subject to further investigation.
Here's our formula:
• Dates contained in "Complete Directory to Science Fiction, Fantasy and Horror Television Series: A Comprehensive Guide to the First 50 Years, 1946 to 1996" by Alan Morton. MMPR is included in this book and the long-standing belief was that Mr. Morton got the MMPR dates from a friend at TVGuide, which got the list straight from Fox Kids. Mr. Morton, by the way, is also one of the founders of the information site now known as Epguides. But his PR OAD list as contained in his book was eventually replaced with the 'educated guess' list. But, as explained above, even this list requires a second piece of tangible evidence as evidence.
• The still-intact VHS collection of one Tommy Lawson. You can find his contributions on the forums at Rangercrew and toon zone. What's key on these 1993 recordings is the presence of the 'Next time on PR ... ' teasers at the end of some episodes. Those teasers only ran ONCE each -- on the day when the next PR timeslot would be the premiere showing of said episode. Also, Tommy has other Fox Kids shows on these tapes so, a PR date can be determined by what other shows were on (X-Men, Animaniacs, etc.) in a given FK block and using those shows' OADs as a way to cross-reference and pinpoint the PR date.
Everything that Tommy has been able to share with us has matched Mr. Morton's book to a T. That gives Scott, John and myself sufficient proof that the OAD for the following six MMPR-S1 episodes are actually:
124 - Gung Ho! - not 10/25/93, should be 11/4/93
127 - Wheel of Misfortune - not 11/1/93, should be 11/5/93
125 - Island of Illusion, I - not 11/2/93, should be 11/8/93
126 - Island of Illusion, II - not 11/3/93, should be 11/9/93
130 - The Rockstar - not 11/4/93, should be 11/10/93
131 - Calamity Kimberly - not 11/5/93, should be 11/11/93
And, as you can see in October, there's a slight question concerning Itsy Bitsy Spider and The Spit Flower. Still working on that one. Unfortunately, the Morton book has one glaring gap in MMPR OAD info. That's in February 1994, when 10 episodes of S1 were premiered.
So that's the deal. Always striving to make this site as accurate as I can. |
