Flame

The searing flame of truth pierces the veil of artificial darkness
covering my eyes dispersing the ignorance that
blanketed my mind.
I scream in pain as I see my love revealed,
for flame burns all it touches.
My sight is not without its cost.
Forever will I see reality,
never to be blindly in love,
my eyes are too bright to be covered.
I see the truth around me,
life no longer serves sugar coated gumdrops
but rather sour worms of rot, decay, and corruption.
I take this in stride though,
it is better to feel pain with my eyes open
than to sleep forever, blindly strumbling in a maze.
The flame burns for me now,
now I am ready to pass my burden along.
The inky black surrounds many,
safely keeping them in ignorance,
but my flame will prevail,
I wear the scars of its burns and I shall open other's eyes.
If I do not,
there shall be no more kindling for which the flame of truth
shall burn.
