The "Holy Game" returns to the Dreamcast. With the debut of NBA 2k, Sega Sports fans everywhere rejoiced thinking that they had a definite NBA Live killer.. They were wrong. While 2k showed off its graphical capabilities, easily out matching the Playstation's power, NBA 2k had its flaws. Missed passes, a constant overthrowing of the ball, and an unnecessary cross over that did absolutely nothing to get you closer to the basket, made gamers think twice about selling their Stations. This time around, Sega has fixed all of the flaws, and added a few bonuses. First and foremost is online play. Because Seganet kicked off on 9-7-2k, more and more games will see phone line freedom, NBA 2k1 is one of those games. It supports up to eight players over the net, as opposed to four at home. Other additions are the franchise mode, street courts, 2 on 2 through 5 on 5 game play, and a vast number of moves that are captured well. (Yes crossovers actually make a difference this time.) NBA 2k1looks, sounds, and plays great.

Graphics: 9.5
Sounds: 8.5 (Commentary can be a little… well, off key)
Game play: 10.0 (Perfect layout)
Overall: 9.5
