According to Earth records from the early 21st century, a race of alien beings known as the Taelons arrived on Earth with the solutions to many problems that were a result of humanity's inefficiency and intolerance. Though many trusted these alien beings (several of which I am acquainted with), certain groups distrusted the Taelons. As Mr. Paris puts it, "they thought it was too good to be true." Though the Resistance had considerably less efficient and powerful means than the Taelons, they had what is called "human spirit." I must observe this.
