William the Bloody frowned at thoughts of Drusilla plagued his mind once again. His Victorian beauty .. but that was a long time ago. Spike shook his head. Oh, who was he kidding? Here he was, sitting in his new crypt, just having gotten back from a fight with his new friends. Amongst these new friends was the Slayer.

Like Dru would Ever take him back now. He had to stop thinking about her. That was all in the past.

Spike groaned as faint stomach pains gripped his insides. He needed to get fed, and he didn’t have any blood left. He angrily kicked the wall. Damn those commandos! They had to take his already shitty life and flush the toilet he was sitting in.

Spike grabbed his trench coat. Once again, he was off to see the Slayer, to grovel at her feet like a pathetic dog and lap up the faithful scraps she gives him out of pity. Oh well, it’s not like he had anything else to live for, anyway.

Cordelia Chase frowned as she rolled back into Sunnydale. She closed her eyes, forcing herself not to cry. This place held so many memories for her.

Cordy’s life story literally was Riches to Rags. Her whole life everything had been handed to her on a silver platter, until the day when she found out that Daddy hadn’t been paying his taxes. She had lost everything, she couldn’t even afford to go to college. She went to LA in hopes of becoming an actress, but so far that hadn’t really been working out. So she decided to work for Angel, dealing with demons and curses. Yeah, that’s what she had really imagined her life would be like! When she was small, she’d say “Mommy, when I grow up, I want to be a demon fighter!” Umm .. no.

Cordy eased her foot on the gas of her rackety car and headed down the all too familiar road to Giles’ house. She really didn’t want to come back here, but, Angel wanted her to go. She wished she could tell Buffy that there was some kind of earth-threatening danger and that they needed her right away, but there wasn’t. Angel just wanted to know, for his own piece of mind, how things were.

She pulled into the driveway and shut off the engine, quickly stepping out of the car. She rapped on Giles’ door. “Hello?” She called out impatiently. The door opened.

Giles peeked his head out, then gasped in surprise. “Cordelia,” He stammered. “What are you, I mean, how are you?”

She briefly smiled. Yep, good old Giles, mumbling away about something or other. “I’m fine. Say, is Buffy around?” Giles removed his glasses and opened the door fully, inviting Cordy in.

“No actually, is there some kind of trouble?” Cordy shook her head.

“Unlucky for you, not this time. It’s been kind of, slow in LA, and Angel just wanted me to check up on things. Plus, I had some free time.” She stuttered, slightly embarrassed. Giles nodded, slightly confused and not sure if he believed her fully.

“Can I get you anything? Tea?” He offered, and she shook her head.

“No, I stopped at Subway on my way here. Did you know that a six inch chicken sub has 840 calories?”

“No, thankfully not.” Giles quipped as another knock on the door sounded. Giles opened it tentivly, and saw Spike standing outside with a blanket, trying to protect himself from the sun. Giles put his hands on his hips. “Spike, what do you want?” Cordy jumped back.

“I- I ran out of food. Do you have anything I could perhaps, borrow?” Spike cocked his head and chuckled. “Well, look who’s back!” He started to smoke a bit, and grimaced in aggravation. “Can I come in?” Giles sighed in annoyance.

“You might as well, Spike.” Cordelia looked frantically from Spike to Giles.

“Um, Hello??” She yelled. “He’s a vampire. Remember, leader of an attempted school massacre, boyfriend of the deranged psycho who talks to the stars? I didn’t come back here to be eaten!”

“Cordelia, Spike is, on our side now.” Giles informed her. Cordy’s jaw dropped.

“What??”

“It’s rather complicated, but he’s been, well, he can’t bite anyone anymore. He helps us out now from time to time.” Cordy’s hands flew up in the air.

“Okay, I think someone’s had just a bit too much tweed.” She looked over at Spike. “If I become your dinner, I’m going to come back as a ghost and haunt you forever.”

Spike chuckled. “Luv, even if I could bite you, I wouldn’t.” Cordelia raised an eyebrow at that unorthodox comment, but Giles didn’t seem to hear it. She tapped her foot against the ground impatiently.

“So, where’s Buffy? I really don’t want to have to stay in town for very long. Bad memories.” Giles nodded.

“Well I assume she’s in class right now, but she usually stops by later in the afternoon.” Spike looked from Cordy to Giles.

“’Ey, don’t forget about me! I’m hungry!” Giles groaned and trudged over to the fridge, handing Spike a package. He eagerly took in and gulped it down. “Thanks, Mate.” He said, and tossed the packet into the garbage. Cordy frowned.

“Um, Gross!” She yelled. Just then, Giles’ phone rang. He looked at it for a few seconds before deciding to pick it up.

“’Ello? Oh, ah, yes.” Giles covered the receiver with his hand. “If you two don’t mind, this is a bit private ..” Cordy groaned.

“Oh, ok.” And she walked up the stairs and into Giles’ guest bedroom. She sat down on the bed and stared at the ceiling. Wow, this was a comfortable bed! She sighed. Cordy remembered when she’d had a place like this. A big huge Victorian room, a canopy bed, an expensive sports car . .

In her state of deep thought, she failed to hear footsteps coming up the stairs. When she opened her eyes again, Spike was leaning against the doorframe, staring at her. She jumped back. “Hey!” She yelled. “You know, I’m really not in the mood for this!” Spike chuckled.

“Oh relax, I’m not going to hurt you. I just came up to visit. After all, it’s been a while has it not?” Cordelia tilted her head in confusion.

“Um, sure. What ever could we talk about? Oh, let’s see. There’s Buffy, I wanted to give her fashion lessons and you wanted to drink her blood. Gee, that makes for a good conversation!” Spike smiled.

“Always did ‘ave a wit, didn’t you. I remember.” Spike couldn’t stop looking at her beautiful long dark hair. It reminded him so much of Drusilla .. and her nails. She was wearing dark red nail polish. That was a polish his Drusilla loved so much. He shook his head.

“What do you mean, you remember?” Cordelia demanded.

“Well, see the Slayer has wit too, but if I recall, your use your wit in a much more tasteful manner.” Cordelia didn’t know what to say to this.

“Well, when it comes to demons and vampires she may be all that, but when it comes to pop culture and fashion sense, I’m the Slayer.” Cordy smiled proudly. Spike grinned, and stepped further inside the room. He looked at her outfit. Wow, he thought. A stunner. “What are you looking at?” She demanded. Spike slightly blushed.

“Oh, sorry. You’re outfit .. it looks stunning on you, Princess.” Cordy sat back. Princess? He called her Princess??

“Um, yeah. Sure.” She had to change the subject, and fast. “So, what’s the deal with you? How come you can’t bite anymore?”

“Oh well, there’s this lot that call themselves the Initiative. They capture vampires and do all sorts of experiments on them. I happen to have gotten caught in the crossfire one day, and they put a bloody chip in my head. If I try to bite someone or even hurt anyone, I get these ‘orrible headaches. A bloody drag, really.” Cordelia tried to keep herself from laughing.

“Oh.” She responded, and looked around the room uncomfortably. Her heart beat a bit easier when she heard the sound of footsteps on the stairs. Giles entered the room a few moments later.

“Sorry, that was a friend from England, mildly important call.”

“Is something wrong?” Cordelia asked.

“No, nothing to worry about.” Giles said quickly, shaking his head. Cordelia wasn’t sure if she believed him. She glanced back at Spike, and caught him looking at her intensely. She narrowed her eyes at him, but feelings of confusion bubbled up inside of her. Giles missed the tension completely.

Spike straightened up his back. “Well, considerin’ it’s still day out, I might as well hang around for a bit.” His eyes traveled towards Giles, who frowned in annoyance.

“And once again, my fun-filled day is complete with the company of Spike.” He mocked. Cordelia smiled slightly. Man, she leaves for less than a year and old enemies become new friends. She glanced over at Spike again. Well, for a former enemy, he wasn’t half bad looking. Cordy shook her head. What was she thinking? This was Spike! This was a vampire! Giles looked at Cordelia oddly, and she closed her eyes and blushed. Oh god, did he know? Could he sense it?

Cordy slapped her hands on her knees. “So, it’ll be a while before Buffy gets here then?” She asked Giles, trying desperately to change the subject. He nodded and adjusted his glasses.

“Actually, I have some matters to attend to, a few errands to run. If you would be as good as to stay here and keep an eye on Spike while I’m gone it would be much appreciated. And then you can see for yourself, or, for Angel as the case may be, that Buffy is indeed alive and well.” Cordelia glanced briefly over at Spike and nodded. Sure, she could do that. She could stay here with Spike, alone.

“Sure.” She told Giles with undetected uncertainty. Spike eyed her maliciously, and Cordy cringed. Giles sighed and started to walk out the door.

“I shouldn’t be long.” He told them, and disappeared. Cordy shifted her weight uncomfortably.

“So .. “ she started, trying to make idle conversation. “Dating anyone lately?” She shook her head. Oh my god, how lame could she be?? The effect of the people she had been hanging around for the past few years was finally rubbing off on her.

“Dating?” He snickered. “Yeah. Just last week I had a hell of a time with a vampire with a soul.” Cordy’s jaw dropped.

“Oh, ew!” She shouted. “And I thought you were straight!” Spike burst out into laughter.

“I didn’t mean to imply Angel!” At that, Cordy burst out into laughter too. She keeled over and held herself up by her arms, trying to subside her uncontrollable amusement. Finally, she cleared her throat.

“That’s good, Spike. Because I think that if you went after Angel, Buffy would make sure that you had a nice new location in her fireplace.” Spike rolled his eyes playfully.

“Yeah, the Slayer would see to that.” Cordy looked at her watch.

“So, how long are we going to have to wait here?” Spike shrugged his shoulders.

“At least two or three hours before we can expect to see Buffy.” Cordy groaned and fished in her pocket. Ah, she actually had some money!

“Well, I’ve been Itching to see the new Sunnydale stock.” She quipped. “Mind if I make a run to the stores?” Spike chuckled under his breath.

“Go right ahead.” Cordy stood up, thankful for the excuse to get out of this awkward and confusing situation. “Alright, I’ll be back in a bit.” She narrowed her eyes. “Don’t do anything stupid, Spike.”

“Yeah, cause you know, I was thinking of burning down the Old Brit’s house. It’s no like, oh, the sun would fry me or anything!” Cordy scowled halfheartedly.

“Yeah, right. That sunlight thingy. Okay, I’ll be back.” She fished around for her keys and hurried out the door.

Spike sighed as she left, watching her bottom sway back and forth with her quickened pace. He shook his head. What was wrong with him? He most definitely should not be having these kinds of thoughts about Cordelia. This whole vamp-o-tent thing was really altering his common sense! Spike picked at his thumbs lazily. He wished she hadn’t gone, he didn’t want to have to sit in Giles’ house all alone. “Oh well.” He said to himself. “Guess I’ll watch some tele.”

Cordelia sped around the corner to the good old Sunnydale shopping mall. She half smiled. She remembered coming here a lot, when she had Daddy’s credit card with an unlimited cash flow. Things have really changed for her.

Cordy didn’t even bother to lock her car door as she scampered out. The only bad guys around here were of the fang-y persuasion, and it was daytime. Not exactly the best time for the vamps to go hunting. She walked right up to her favorite expensive store, and gasped. Right in the window was the most beautiful seventeenth century white lace gown she had ever seen! In a gown like that, she’d look like she used to. She’d look like a million dollar princess. Cordy nervously made her way up to the clerk.

“Um, excuse me,” she said passively. The clerk turned to look at her with curiosity. “How much is that gown over there?” The clerk smiled.

“You’re in luck, Miss. It’s actually for sale, half off.” Cordy grinned, but even at half off she wasn’t sure she could afford it.

“How much?” She repeated.

“Seventy dollars.” Cordy fished again through her dissevered wallet. She had the money, but it was literally all she had. She’d even have to borrow gas money from Giles just to make it back to LA! She frowned. Oh, but she wanted that dress!

“Can I try it on?” She asked. The man smiled, and took it off the model.

“Dressing rooms are over there.” He told her, pointing towards the back of the store. She hurried over and quickly slipped the garment on. She had been right, this gown truly did make her look like a princess.

“I’ll buy it.” She told the clerk a few minutes later. He smiled and rung it up. “Can I wear it home? I have someone I, want to see me in it.” She said. He nodded and she quickly ran back into the dressing room to slip it back on. When Buffy saw her, she wanted to look like she was managing alright. She didn’t want Buffy to know the kind of life she lead now. Sure, Buffy knew that she was working for Angel, but in reality, Cordy was an actress. She wanted to look like one. She spent a great deal of her high-school years trying to beat out Buffy, and she couldn’t stop now.

Cordelia pulled back into Giles’ driveway and sighed. She checked her hair one last time in the rear view mirror to make sure it was in place, then got out of the car. It shouldn’t be more than an hour now that Buffy would return, then Cordy could exchange a few words with her and be on her way.

Forgetting all about Spike, Cordy entered into Giles’ house in a huff. “’Ello?” Said an eager voice. Cordy rolled her eyes. Oh yeah, him.

“It’s just me.” She yelled. “Back from the mall.”

“Oh.” Said Spike, not really sounding like he cared. He appeared at the top of the stairway and stopped in his tracks.

Oh bloody hell, Spike thought. Look at her, all dressed up like My Dru. A rush of emotions surged through Spike’s insides. Memories of when Dru wore a dress almost exactly like that came flooding back to him. When he first arrived on the Hellmouth, and Dru was weak. She even had her same long, dark hair curled and combed just like Cordelia’s. What was she trying to do to him?

“Wow.” Spike said. “Like the dress.” Cordelia looked down and slightly blushed.

“Oh, yeah. It was on sale. .” She stammered quickly, not sure why she felt all bubbly inside. As if in a trance, Spike grazed down the steps and fully took in the sight of her. “I take it you like the dress.” Cordy said.

“Oh Yeah.” Spike huffed out, taken aback by his new infatuation for her. She smiled daintily and held out her hand, which he gladly took and placed a kiss upon. “Absolutely amazing.” Cordy opened her eyes, looking everywhere but at Spike. She giggled softly. Suddenly like a mad dog, Spike lunged at her pressing his lips harshly against her own. She squealed out in surprise, but found herself oddly aroused at this quick, explosive action. She wrapped her flailing arms around his head and tilted her head back, allowing his tongue to graze against her own. She began to feel all exited and suddenly was wild for him. The fact that Spike was a vampire didn’t cross her mind, nor the fact that the only reason he wanted her is because she reminded him of the one he loved. She was in the moment.

“Want to go upstairs?” Spike said hurriedly, forcing himself to break free of the kiss for a moment. She tilted her head, not allowing her brain to regain control of her body.

“Oh hell yes.” She stammered, as Spike was already picking her up in his arms and rushing up the stairs.

Cordelia took several breaths, trying to regain oxygen into her system. She glanced over at her lover, envious that vampires really didn’t need to breath. She sighed heavily and draped an arm over his bare chest. She wanted to talk, had so many questions and things to say, but she had no idea where to start. What do you say after something like this? ‘Was it good for you?’ Or, ‘So, now what?’ No, it would totally ruin the moment. It was true that Cordy wasn’t usually known for her tact, but in this situation, tact seemed to find it’s way to her. Suddenly, a downstairs door opened.

Cordelia’s heart lunged from her chest. Oh my God! She thought. Either Giles or Buffy are here!! As quick as she could, Cordy tore her bare flesh away from the safety of the sheets and tried her damnest to scramble into some clothes without looking too tousled. “Spike!” She hissed urgently.

“Mm?” He mumbled, half asleep from the effort.

“Someone’s home!!” She frantically burst out. Spike’s eyes opened and he looked around the room. Suddenly reality hit him about where he’d been and what he’d just done.

“Oh, bloody ‘ell . “ He stammered as he quickly slipped on some pants. “I’ll pretend to be asleep.” He told her as footsteps made their way down the hallway.

“Giles? Anyone home?” Buffy’s voice sounded. Cordy took in half a breath. If it was just Buffy and not Giles, she still stood half a chance of her actions not being discovered. She rushed out the room, shutting the door behind her and hoping to god Buffy wouldn’t need to go in there for anything.

“Hi Buffy.” Cordy said as calmly as she could. Buffy’s eyes widened.

“Cordelia?” She asked. Cordy briefly looked down, realizing that she had slipped into her jeans and shirt again instead of her new dress. Buffy’s expression turned frantic. “Oh my god! What is it? It is Angel?” Cordy just looked at her. Buffy shook her shoulders violently. “What is it??” She yelled.

“God, Ritalin much?” Cordy said, sighing with annoyance. “Everything’s fine! I just came down here to, to see how you were.”

“Did you have a vision?” Buffy demanded.

“God, who died and made you Cornel Mustard?” She mocked. “No, no vision. It’s just been slow in LA, and I was bored.” Buffy tilted her head and looked into Cordy’s eyes, finally deciding that she was telling the truth. She backed off.

“So, how’s Angel?” Buffy tentivly asked.

“He’s fine. Broody as usual.” She said, then bit her bottom lip. Brutal honesty seemed to be Cordy’s best virtue. Oh well. Fortunately for her, the front door opened again and Giles stepped in carrying a few grocery bags.

“Does Giles know you’re here?” Buffy asked her. Cordy nodded.

“Yeah, I came just before he left.”

“Oh.” Buffy looked around uncomfortably. “Well I’m gonna, go see if he needs help.” She stammered out and rushed down the stairs, obviously not wanting to be around Cordy. She shrugged. It was probably still painful for her to hear about Angel. She would probably always love him.

Cordy peered around the staircase to make sure Giles and Buffy were busy in the kitchen, and then forced herself back into the room. She closed the door quietly behind her. “Um, hi.” She said to Spike, feeling like a royal dummie.

Spike was sitting up in the bed, fully dressed. He looked over at Cordelia with pity. He wasn’t going to beat around the bush. “You know why I wanted you, don’t you?” He asked in a pleading tone. She narrowed her eyes. Spike sighed. “In that dress especially, you were a mirror of My Drusilla.”

Cordy felt tears welling up in her eyes. She had just shared something very intimate with Spike, and he was basically telling her that it didn’t mean anything to him. He didn’t really care about her at all. He looked down at his feet.

“I’m sorry, Cordelia. You overtook me.” For once, Cordelia Chase was at a loss for words.

“You, you . “ She didn’t know how to finish, and she felt herself braking down. Before he would see her cry, she took off out the bedroom door and down the stairs like a bat out of hell. She glanced towards Buffy and Giles. “I’m sorry, I’ve got to go. I forgot I have this, audition tonight.” She said. Before they could respond, she was out the door and turning on her engine, racing out of Sunnydale, again. This time, forever.

Spike watched her go, guilt welling up inside of him. A once spoiled girl now forced to make it on her own, and he had to go and take advantage of her. Still, he couldn’t help it. He may not be physically brooding over Drusilla day in and day out anymore, but that doesn’t mean that he didn’t still love her. And that girl Had to go and remind him of her .. oh well. Stranger things have happened.
