Treason Chapters 1-6
-Chapter 1-
Young Lila stood beside the door to Ryall's room. Ryall finally came out of his room and they walked to the practice room. Both of them were Jedi Special Agents. They were roughly the same age at about 12 years old. They spent most of their time practicing with practice lightsabers. Every now and then, the Jedi Council would call upon them to help the Jedi Knights and Masters in their missions.
The same day while in the middle of practicing, Lila received a message to meet with the Jedi Council about something very important. She looked at Ryall and shrugged. She shut down her practice saber and put it on her belt. She walked from the practice room to the Council Chamber Room. She stood at the doors and waited for Master Yoda or Master Mace Windu to ask her to enter. She could hear Qui-Gon Jinn's deep voice talking about a potential danger involving Senator Palpatine. The words "treason" and "Trade Federation" were used several times.
The doors to the chamber room opened and Lila stepped inside. The 12 council members sat in their usual circle. In the middle of the room stood Qui-Gon Jinn and his apprentice Obi-Wan Kenobi. She walked to the center of the room and stood beside Obi-Wan and looked at Master Yoda and Master Windu and bowed.
"You wanted to see me, Master?"
"Yes, Lila, something has come up and Master Jinn needs your assistance." Mace Windu said.
"Yes, Of course." Lila said, looking at Qui-Gon and then back to Master Windu.
"Good. I'll let them fill you in on their mission, and they will give you your orders. May the Force be with you." Mace Windu said.
Qui-Gon and Obi-Wan bowed and walked out of the room. Lila then bowed and quickly walked to catch up with them. She slowed down when she caught up with them and walked quietly a few steps behind Obi-Wan. Obi-Wan turned his head and looked at Lila. He noticed the look of anticipation on her face. He had heard about how good she does her job. He also knew that she will never get picked by a Knight or a Master to be taken as an apprentice. She was one of the few special Jedi agents that were used when something got a little hairy.
Qui-Gon walked to a closed door. Lila had never been in the room. Of course being as young has she was, she hasn't been allowed in most of the rooms. It was like a conference room. There was a long table in the middle with chairs all around it. Qui-Gon sat down in a chair and so did Obi-Wan. Lila stood a couple steps away from the door. Qui-Gon motioned for her to sit down. She refused.
"Please. Feel free to relax. Sit down." Qui-Gon said, motioning for her to sit down again.
"Yes, sir." Lila said, sitting down beside Obi-Wan.
Obi-Wan sighed and looked at Qui-Gon. Lila knew that something was definitely wrong. She could since the frustration that both Qui-Gon and Obi-Wan had.
"Lila, we need your help. Something has happened and Senator Palpatine may be involved."
"What do you need me to do?" She said nodding.
"We need you to somehow get into his office and see if you can find anything about his ties to the Trade Federation." Obi-Wan said.
"When?"
"There's a meeting in the Senate tomorrow afternoon. During that meeting you need to sneak into his apartment find the information and report back here. We will go through the information and send you back to put in information back in his apartment. After that report back here for your next mission."
"Okay. So, how long am I going to be working with you?" She said looking at Qui-Gon.
"We don't know yet. There are some things offworld that we will need your help with."
"No problem. If its all right I want to go back to the practice room."
"Sure. Speak to no one about this." Qui-Gon said.
Lila stood up, bowed and walked out. Obi-Wan and Qui-Gon continued sitting at the table talking.
"Do you think that she can find what we are looking for, Master."
"Yes, I do. She's very strong in the Force and she's good at her job. It's a shame that she won't get picked."
"Yes, It is. But with the job she has, wouldn't the Council allow her and the other Jedi special agents to stay?"
"It's possible. Come on. I wanted to watch her skills in the practice room."
They stood up and walked out of the room. The door shut and locked behind them. They walked to the practice room where Lila and Ryall were practicing. Qui-Gon right away noticed how skilled she was with the practice saber, but wondered if she had a real lightsaber of her own.
-Chapter 2-
"So, Lila, what did the Council want?" Ryall said thrusting his practice saber.
"I can't talk about it." Lila said blocking the thrust.
"What?! You can't talk about it?" Ryall said shutting down his saber.
"That's right." She said, shutting her saber off.
"Then it can't be good. Decline the mission."
"Ryall, I can't. It's my job. It's your job too. I have to do this mission."
"No. Decline it or I'll go tell the Council to let me go too."
"No. They asked me to do this, okay. Everything will be fine."
"Can you at least tell me where you are going?"
Qui-Gon and Obi-Wan waited patiently for Lila to answer. Qui-Gon could sense how much Ryall cared for Lila. Of course he cared for her. They were best friends.
"No. I can't. Ryall, I'm sorry. Just please trust me."
"I don't like it."
"I know that you don't, but the Council told me to do this mission. So, I have to do it."
Qui-Gon walked up to Lila and Ryall. He saw much of himself and Tahl in Lila and Ryall. Ryall saw Qui-Gon and immediately bowed. Lila turned around and saw him and did a delayed bow.
"I was watching you practice. Both of you are very good with the practice sabers. Tell me, do you have a real lightsaber?"
"I'm trying to build one." Ryall said.
"No. Not yet."
"Lila, when you are ready, We will be waiting for you outside the Temple."
"Yes, sir."
Lila and Ryall bowed and Qui-Gon walked away. Ryall looked at Lila and sighed. She knew what Ryall was thinking.
"Look, Lila, I'm sorry about my attitude a while ago. Just be careful and come back here safe."
"I will." Lila said, hugging him.
Lila walked away from him and out of the practice room. She ran to her room to change her clothes. She put on a clean black jumpsuit. She knew that it wasn't normal Jedi clothing, but she found it easier to wear than the typical Jedi clothing. Then, it hit her. Qui-Gon told her that she was going into Senator Palpatine's office tomorrow afternoon. Why were Qui-Gon and Obi-Wan wanting to meet her outside? Something was up. Something bad was going to happen.
She shrugged and ran to the Temple entrance. She saw Qui-Gon and Obi-Wan standing there.
"I hope that you haven't been waiting long." Lila said walking up to them.
"No. It's fine. Come."
"Sir. I have a question. You told me that I was to get into the Senator's office tomorrow afternoon during the Senate meeting. Has that changed?"
"No. The Council has told us to go meet with Senator Palpatine and ask him of this. If he denies it, then tomorrow you are to do you mission."
"Yes, sir."
Lila only nodded. They walked over to the transport that was waiting on them. They got in and the transport headed to the Senate Building. Lila has never been to the Senate Building. She's been to different planets, but never the Senate Building. Obi-Wan looked at her. He noticed something about her now that he didn't notice earlier in the day. He noticed her very strong presence in the Force, something that was almost unnoticeable earlier. He knew now what Qui-Gon was talking about.
-Chapter 3-
The transport stopped at the Senate Building. They got out and walked up to the big doors and walked in as the doors slid open. The doors quickly shut behind them and Lila jumped at the loud boom. She followed closely behind Obi-Wan, who was a couple steps behind Qui-Gon.
"Hello. May I help you?" A receptionist droid said.
"We are here to see Senator Palpatine." Qui-Gon said.
The droid said something in a language that Lila had never heard before into a speaker. Lila guessed that he was telling the Senator that they were here to see him.
"Send them in." Palpatine's voice rang from the speaker.
"Lila," Qui-Gon whispered. "Stay here. We don't need him wondering about what we are planning."
"Okay." She whispered.
The door to his office opened and Qui-Gon and Obi-Wan walked in. Lila stood there. She had a strange feeling though. She felt like she had been in this room before, but a long time ago.
"Senator." Qui-Gon said.
"Ah. Qui-Gon Jinn. Obi-Wan Kenobi. Come in have a seat."
Qui-Gon and Obi-Wan sat down. Palpatine looked at them.
"So, what can I do for you today?"
Obi-Wan looked at Qui-Gon and sighed. He didn't know what to say exactly. He waited for Qui-Gon to say something.
"Senator, there have been allegations made against you."
"What? Against me? What kind of allegations?"
"That you have ties to the Trade Federation. If this is so, and you are allowing them to blockade Naboo, you will be tried for treason."
"I do not know what you are talking about."
Lila could hear them discussing the whole situation. She still had that feeling. The feeling of déjà vu. Then, she remembered. A dark clothed man had her and another in this room when she was a baby. She knew that it was almost impossible to remember, but when you meet something like that man, you never forget it. She debated with herself on whether to tell Qui-Gon or not. She looked out a window that overlooked the skyline.
About 30 minutes later, Obi-Wan and Qui-Gon walked out of the office. Qui-Gon looked at her and she began walking beside Obi-Wan. They walked out of the building. Qui-Gon stopped and Obi-Wan and Lila did the same. Qui-Gon turned and looked at Lila.
"Something's wrong, isn't there?" Lila asked.
"Yes, He's denied everything. There's only one thing left to do." Qui-Gon said.
Lila nodded. She knew what had to be done. She looked around and then decided to tell them about the strange feeling she had when she was standing outside Senator Palpatine's office.
"I had a strange feeling in that room. The feeling of being in that room before."
"What?" Obi-Wan asked.
"I don't really want to discuss it out in the open."
"Okay. Let's head back to the temple."
They walked towards the transport that took them to the Senate Building. They sat down and the transport flew back to the Jedi Temple. They transport stopped and they got out. They thanked the driver and walked into the temple. Lila stopped just inside the temple doors. She turned and looked at Qui-Gon.
"I know that this is going to be kinda hard to believe. When I was a baby, a dark clothed man brought me and some other child to that exact same room. Something happened. He didn't like the way the Force flowed through me, so he took me here and placed me at the door."
Obi-Wan sighed and looked at Qui-Gon. Qui-Gon didn't know what to say. He knew what Lila just told him. There was a Sith Lord on Coruscant. Could that be true though?
"Are you sure about this, Lila?" Qui-Gon asked.
"I know it seems absurd, but when you see and feel that much evil you never forget it."
"Okay. Have you told Master Windu about this?"
"No. I haven't told anyone."
"All right. Go rest and prepare for your mission tomorrow. I will speak with Master Windu about this."
"Yes, sir."
"You too, Obi-Wan. You can go practice in the practice room if you wish."
"Yes, Master."
Lila and Obi-Wan walked off as Qui-Gon walked toward the turbolift that went up to Master Windu's quarters. The turbolift stopped and he got off. He walked to the door and knocked. The door opened and Qui-Gon walked in.
"Master Windu." Qui-Gon said bowing.
"What is it, Qui-Gon?"
"We have might a slight problem."
-Chapter 4-
Lila and Obi-Wan walked into the practice room. Lila called two of the practice sabers to her with the Force. She took one and sent the other to Obi-Wan. Obi-Wan took the saber handle. He didn't want to use his real saber due to the fact that Lila has never used a real one. Lila pressed the activation switch and a blue blade shot into the air. Obi-Wan pressed the activation switch on his and a green blade shot into the air.
The doors to the practice room opened. Ryall, Qui-Gon, Mace Windu, Yoda, and several members of the Jedi Council entered the room to watch Lila and Obi-Wan duel.
Lila took a couple steps to her left and faced Obi-Wan. She went into a fighting position. Obi-Wan looked at Lila and shrugged. He raised the saber to a fighting position.
"What is she doing?" Ryall said looking at Qui-Gon.
"Don't worry. They are just practicing. Everything will be fine."
Lila knew what Ryall was thinking. Why was she wanting to practice with Obi-Wan? He's too skilled of a fighter for her. To be honest. She didn't know why she was doing this. She noticed that no one was going to stop them. She looked at Obi-Wan. Obi-Wan looked at her.
"Are you sure about this?" Obi-Wan asked.
"Yes. I'm sure."
"Okay. Here we go."
Lila closed her eyes and awaited Obi-Wan's attack. He stood there looking at Lila wondering if he should go ahead and attack. He thrusted the saber towards her. She blocked the shot without opening her eyes. Obi-Wan parried this time and again she blocked the shot. Obi-Wan kept trying many times to attack her, but every time she blocked them with her eyes closed. He had never seen an opponent fight with their eyes closed. Obi-Wan finally stopped trying to attack and backed off a little bit.
Lila finally opened her eyes and glared at Obi-Wan. She began attacking him. He felt the Force flowing through her. It's was more powerful than before. Everyone in the room could feel it. She kept slashing and parrying. Obi-Wan slipped and fell to the floor. She held the saber in the air and started bringing it down for the final blow.
"LILA!" Ryall screamed.
Lila looked at Ryall and dropped the saber. It fell to the floor with a clang. She then realized what she almost did. She looked at Obi-Wan laying on the floor in complete shock and ran off. She ran to room. The door opened and shut as fast as she ran in the room. She sat in a dark corner of her room and quietly cried. She couldn't believe that she almost killed Obi-Wan. There was a knock at her door.
"Go away." She said.
"Lila, its Ryall. Please let me in."
Lila just sat there in the dark shadows. She didn't understand why she did what she did. It was almost like a very dark shadow loomed over her. She has never had that happen. She was almost scared about what could possibly happen. The door opened and Ryall walked in. The door shut behind him. He saw her sitting in the corner crying. He walked up to here and sat down beside her.
"Lila, what happened out there?" Ryall asked worriedly.
"I don't know. Is Obi-Wan okay?"
"He's fine. It's a good thing that I stopped you, huh?"
"Yeah. I could have killed him..."
Ryall wondered what was going on in Lila's head. He looked at her. He knew that something was definitely wrong and going on this mission could bring it out of her again. There was another knock at the door. The door opened and showed Qui-Gon standing there. Ryall stood up as Qui-Gon walked in.
"Ryall, why don't you go for a walk or something?" Qui-Gon said.
"Yes, sir." Ryall said walking out of the room.
The door closed behind Qui-Gon. He sat down beside Lila and looked at her.
"Lila, what happened? I've never seen anything like what you did in that practice room."
"I don't know what happened. It was almost like someone was controlling me. I could have killed him. I didn't mean to do what I did."
"It's all right. Obi-Wan's fine. He's still a little shocked about that happened, but he'll be fine. It's late in the afternoon. Why don't you get something to eat and then go to sleep?"
"It's all right. I'm not really hungry. If you don't want me to do the job tomorrow, I won't."
"No. We need you. Everything will be fine. Just go in, get the stuff and get out. That's all you have to do."
"Okay."
Qui-Gon stood up and walked out. It was true. He had never seen anything that what he witnessed in that practice room. He wasn't sure if he wanted to see it again. Obi-Wan walked up to him.
"Is she okay?" Obi-Wan asked.
"Yes. She's fine. She's just upset about what she almost did."
"I should talk to her."
"No. She'll be fine. She's probably already asleep."
Obi-Wan looked at the door that led to her room. He sighed and walked away with Qui-Gon. Lila continued sitting in the corner crying. Maybe she should talk to Master Windu about this. She stood up dried her eyes and walked out of her room. She walked to a turbolift that would take her to the floor of Master Windu's quarters. She got off of the turbolift and walked to the door that lead to his room. She quickly knocked. She stood there for a couple seconds and began to walk off.
The door opened and Mace Windu stood there. She stopped and looked at him. He gestured for her to come in. She walked into the room and the door closed behind her. He looked at her and sighed.
"Lila, I'm sure you have been asked this a few times now. What happened?"
"I'm not really sure. It felt like someone was controlling me. I feel really bad about it also. I don't know really what to do about it."
"Qui-Gon told me earlier what you told him and Obi-Wan. Did you feel like your life was in danger in telling them about it?"
"No. Normal or Jedi children would never remember something from infancy, but you can never forget someone that evil."
Mace looked at Lila. He could sense how much she hated what she did and want she almost did.
"It's okay. Everything is going to be fine. Do you mission tomorrow and be careful there's a good possibility that this could happen again."
"Yes, sir." Lila said bowing.
Lila walked out of the room and headed toward the turbolift. She stepped onto the lift. It went all the way to the floor that she needed. She got off and walked to her room. As she got closer to her room, she saw someone standing outside the door. She finally noticed that it was Obi-Wan. She stepped in front of the door. It opened and she walked in. Obi-Wan followed her inside. The door closed behind him. She turned and looked at him.
"Obi-Wan, I'm so sorry about happened earlier. I don't know what happened."
"It's okay. I'm fine. Are you going to be okay?"
"Yeah. I'll be fine by tomorrow afternoon. I'll do my job and do my job well."
"Okay. See you tomorrow then."
Obi-Wan took one last look at Lila and walked out. He knew that she was going to do her job, even if it meant losing her life. The door opened and he walked out. The door shut behind him. He walked towards the practice room that he and Lila fought in. It was kinda late, so no one was in there. As he stepped in he could feel something that wasn't normal. It felt almost like a dark cloud was hovering the room, a cloud of evil. He knew that it had something to do about Lila. He just didn't know what. He decided right then to wait about telling Qui-Gon about this feeling.
-Chapter 5-
Lila laid completely still on her bed. She was worried about if what happened would ever happen again and who would be her opponent that time would be. She finally drifted off to a deep sleep. In her dreams, she dreamt about that dark man. He didn't do or say anything. She woke up to the sun shining bright in her room. There were a couple of knocks at her door.
"Come in." She said.
The door opened and Qui-Gon walked in. Lila sat up on the bed and looked at him. He walked in and stood at the window. For about five minutes nothing was said between Qui-Gon or Lila.
"How are you feeling?" Qui-Gon finally said.
"I'm feeling better. Thanks."
"Okay. Do you feel like going to the practice room?"
"Yes. Give me a minute or two."
"Okay. I'll be outside."
Qui-Gon walked out of the room. Lila stood up and sighed. She changed her clothes. She put on another black jumpsuit, but this one had silver stripes on the sleeves and on the seam of the legs. She brushed her long black hair and pulled it into a ponytail. She put on her boots and walked out of her room.
Sure enough there was Qui-Gon waiting for her. They walked to the practice room that they were at the day before. Lila stopped at the door when she saw that Obi-Wan and Ryall were practicing. Qui-Gon gently took her arm and walked into the room. They stopped a few steps shy of Obi-Wan and Ryall. Lila noticed that Ryall had the same saber that she had yesterday. Qui-Gon noticed it also. Lila saw that look in Ryall's eyes. She ran up to Ryall and knocked the saber out of his hands. Obi-Wan looked at her. Ryall shook his head.
"Lila, what's wrong?" Obi-Wan asked.
"There's something about that saber." She said pointing at the saber laying on the floor, "I used it yesterday. Remember?"
"I remember."
"There's nothing wrong with it, Lila. It's just a practice saber." Ryall said.
Qui-Gon just stood there. He looked at Lila. He thought about what to say and how to say it. The simple fact was, in Lila being taken from her family by what could have been a Sith, some of the Dark Side flooded into her. It's just taken this long for it to come out.
"No. There's nothing wrong with that saber." Qui-Gon said, "That look that you saw in Ryall's eyes wasn't the look that you had yesterday, Lila. There's something in you that made you act like that yesterday."
"What? What do you mean?"
"In time you will figure it out. But for now, let's worry about your mission this afternoon."
"Yes, sir."
Obi-Wan looked at Qui-Gon. Something wasn't right. In 6 standard hours Lila was supposed to sneak into Senator Palpatine's apartment and get the information that they needed. The question was, would she find it? Time will only tell.
Qui-Gon noticed the look on Obi-Wan's face. He knew that Obi-Wan was thinking. He was worried about Lila's assignment in a few hours. He has nothing to worry about. Lila was going to be fine.
Lila walked out of the room and stood out in the hall. She didn't completely understand what Qui-Gon told her, but maybe she'll figure it out in time. Right now, all she had to worry about was her mission. It should seem easy. All she had to do was get in, get the information, and get out. That's all. The only real problem was getting into his apartment. She didn't want to have to hurt the receptionist droid that sat outside.
A few minutes went by. Other Jedi walked the halls. Most of them were Trainees. There were a few Knights around, but not many. She walked to the Jedi Library. She just wanted to look at a few things. The doors opened and she walked in. The doors shut behind her with a big whoosh. She looked around. Most of the people she saw were young Jedi, a few years younger than her.
She spent a couple hours in the library. She was getting kinda hungry. She hadn't had anything since yesterday morning. She walked out of the library and walked to the cafeteria. She wasn't real hungry. Maybe some soup and a drink. She got what she wanted and sat at a table. She quietly ate her soup and drank her blue milk. She placed the dishes where she was supposed to and walked out. She walked back to her room to mediate for a little while.
-Chapter 6-
Ryall sat with Obi-Wan and Qui-Gon on the floor of the practice room. He wanted to ask Qui-Gon what was really wrong with Lila. He was worried about her. He didn't say anything, he just sat there.
"Master, it's almost time for the Senate meeting."
"I know. She's mediating right now. Let's give her a few minutes."
"She's thinking about the best way to do what needs to be done." Ryall said, "She's very particular about it. It has to be perfect."
Obi-Wan didn't really understand why the council allowed the Jedi Special Agents to be. All he knew was that they are good at their jobs and that was all that mattered. Qui-Gon stood up and walked out of the room. Obi-Wan stood up and followed.
They walked to Lila's room. She stood outside the door waiting on them. Obi-Wan noticed that she was still wearing the black and silver jumpsuit. This time she had like a black jacket on. He looked at her. There was something about her that confused him.
"Ready?" She said.
"Yes." Qui-Gon said, "As soon as you leave this temple to do this, you are on your own. You will not see myself or Obi-Wan until you return. If you have any last questions, now is the time to ask."
"I have none other than, where will I meet you when I return?"
"Right here. We will be waiting."
"All right. I'll see you when I return."
"Okay. May the Force be with you." Qui-Gon said.
With that said, Lila walked away from them and out of the temple. She noticed a transport waiting for her. She got in and headed towards the Senate Apartment Building. The transport stopped and she got out. She thanked the driver and told him to stay out of sight until she came out of the building. He agreed. She looked at the massive building and walked towards it. She knew exactly what would happen if she were caught. She couldn't allow that to happen. The massive doors open as she walked towards them. She walked in and the doors slammed behind her.
She saw a turbolift that led up the many floors of apartments. She got on it. The turbolift stopped at the right floor. She got off and walked towards Palpatine's apartment. The receptionist droid was nowhere in sight. She walked slowly and carefully to the doors. They opened and shut almost as fast as she could enter the room.
The room was completely dark. She grabbed a glow stick out of one of the jacket pocket. She put it on the lowest setting and walked towards a desk that sat in a corner of the room. She began looking through the many drawers and found nothing. She cursed under her breath. She heard someone talking outside on the balcony. She turned the glow stick off and sat in the corner behind the desk and watched. An older dark robed man and a younger robed man stopped and continued talking. She couldn't hear what they were saying, but she remembered the older man.
She looked at a bottom drawer that she didn't see before. She carefully and quietly reached for the drawer and opened it. There they were. The files that she needed to get. She reached in and with a little shred of light she looked at the files and got only the ones that she needed.
She gently closed to drawer and stood up. With the darkness of the corner still hiding her, she began making her way out of the room. She stayed in as much of the shadows as she could. The doors whooshed open and she ran out. She ran to the turbolift. There was a problem. The turbolift wasn't working. She cursed under her breath as she got off of the turbolift. She didn't know if there were any stairs around. The only way down that she though of was to jump and use the Force to gently land on the ground.
She saw a window behind the turbolift and ran to it. She looked at it and saw a button that opened it. She took a few steps back and used the Force to press the button. She ran to the window as it opened and jumped, pressing the button as she exited the window. She tapped into the Force and used to fall easily to the ground.
She landed on the ground and saw the window closed at the same time as she landed. She ran to the front of the building. The driver of the transport saw her running and drove up beside her. She hopped in and the transport sped off.
