Jedi Heritage I: Trouble on Chandrila: Chapters 1-5

-Chapter 1-

Obi-Wan Kenobi stood in the middle of the Jedi Council's Chamber room facing Master Mace Windu and Master Yoda. He wasn't exactly sure why he was called to the room. Then, the doors whooshed open and in walked a young woman his age and her apprentice. He wished now that Anakin was present for the meeting, but he allowed Anakin to practice in the practice room.

"Master Yoda, Master Windu. I'm sorry to keep you waiting." The young woman said.
     "It's fine."
The young woman looked at Obi-Wan and smiled. She was so beautiful. She stood a few inches shorter than him and had her long red hair braided. He couldn't take his eyes off of her. It was like everything had stopped and it was just him and her standing there. He instantly fell in love with her.

"Master Celisoe, something has come up of the planet of Chandrila. We need you and Obi-Wan to go there, check it out, and report anything out of the ordinary. You are to leave immediately."
"Yes, Master. Just Obi-Wan and myself?"
"Yes. Your apprentice and Obi-Wan's apprentice will remain here. May the Force be with you."

They bowed and walked out of the Chamber Room. They stopped just outside of the room and stood there. No one said anything for a minute or two.

     "Hi. I'm Rei-Na Meriko, Master Celisoe's apprentice." Rei-Na said, looking at Obi-Wan.
"Hi. I'm Obi-Wan Kenobi. Nice to meet you." Obi-Wan said.
"I'm ShiriKei Celisoe. I'll meet you in the hanger in twenty minutes."
     "Okay."

ShiriKei and Rei-Na walked away from Obi-Wan. Obi-Wan just stood there watching ShiriKei. He knew that the feeling that he had was forbidden. He had never felt this way before. Not like this. He wondered if maybe she felt the same way. He turned and headed towards the hanger.

"Master, are you sure that this will be a good idea?"
     "What do you mean?"
"Going to Chandrila with Master Kenobi, while I am here waiting for your return."
"Everything will be fine. The Council would not have asked me to do this if it wasn't needed. The Republic is in peril. Anything could happen. We need Jedi to stay here and keep an eye on things."

"I know, Master. I have visions of the future. It doesn't look good."
"I know, but don't you worry about me. I'll be fine. While I'm gone, I want you to practice your lightsaber skills."
     "Yes, Master."
"I'll see you when I return."
"Okay. May the Force be with you."

Rei-Na walked away from her master. She wished that the Council had said that she could go with them. ShiriKei watched Rei-Na walk away and then made her way to the hanger. She walked into the hanger and saw Obi-Wan standing there like he had been waiting forever for her to come.

     "Hi."
"Hi. Let's see here." ShiriKei said.
"It'll probably take a day to get to Chandrila. What could possibly be going on there?"
"I don't know. We'll just have to wait and see."
     "Yeah."

They looked at each other. Again, it felt like everything had stop. It only lasted a few seconds this time. ShiriKei walked away from him and over to the Republic Cruiser that would take them to Chandrila. Obi-Wan quickly ran to catch up with her. They walked aboard the ship and headed for the cockpit. ShiriKei looked at the pilot.

"I'm Captain Gemma Miksa. I'll be taking you to Chandrila."
"Hello. I'm Jedi Knight ShiriKei Celisoe and this is Jedi Knight Obi-Wan Kenobi. Nice to meet you."

The captain looked at them and nodded. She sat at the pilot's seat and her copilot started getting the coordinates for Chandrila. Within ten minutes, they were in orbit of Coruscant. The Cruiser went into hyperspace. ShiriKei sat on the floor of a room that Jedi and others can use to sleep. She quieted her mind and allowed the Force to flow to and through her.

Obi-Wan sat across the room from her. He held the hilt of his lightsaber in his hand. He closed his eyes and quieted his mind. He allowed the Force to fill him. His mind flashed back to five years ago, when he and his former Master, Qui-Gon Jinn, fought Darth Maul. That day has filled his dreams ever since. He missed Qui-Gon very much. He knew that deep down it was wrong to dwell on this, but Qui-Gon was like a father to him. A man that he would never forget.
-Chapter 2-

Gemma sat in the pilot's seat of the Radiant XII. She looked at the view screen as a Neimoidian appeared.

"Viceory, the Jedi are aboard and heading for Chandrila."
"Perfect. Delay landing as long as you can. Then capture them. Do not allow them to see the new army."
     "Yes, Viceory."

The image was gone and Gemma had her assignment. She sat there and thought about how excatly she wanted to do this.

"Gemma, do you actually think that it will be possible to capture them? They are Jedi, you know."
"Dominic, you are being your usual stupid self. I know that they are Jedi. Unfortunally, we have to find a way to keep them off of Chandrila. At least until the Trade Federation gets their army off of the planet."
"That's not possible. The army isn't even near ready."

Gemma just sighed. Dominic was being his usual stupid self. Gemma was getting sick of his stupidity. If he wasn'ther husband, she would kill him or have him killed. Dominic then looked at her and smiled.

Helping the Trade Federation on Chandrila had been his idea to start with. He knew that Gemma was the leader of The Chandrilian Free Fighters. It might have been his idea, but she had gotten all of the credit. Along with helping the Trade Federation with their new army, The Chandrilian Free Fighters were also trying to gain control of Chandrila. They have been trying for almost a year now. But the thought of having Jedi running around on the planet could hender everything that Gemma had planned for the planet.

"Captain, should we have already landed on Chandrila?" Obi-Wan asked, standing at the door of the cockpit.
"There might be a few delays." Gemma said, looking at him.

Obi-Wan looked at Gemma and walked back to the room he was in. ShiriKei was still sitting there. Now, she watched him. He had a look of confusion on his face.

     "What's wrong?"
     "Something's not right here."
     "What do you mean?"
"We should have dropped out of hyperspace by now."
"I'm sure that everything is fine. You worry to much."
"How do you know? We've known each other for how long?"
"Obi-Wan," ShiriKei said, standing up and walked towards him, "Everything with be fine. This could be the easiest mission I've ever done."

Obi-Wan just looked at the beautiful site that stood before him. Her long red hair was unbraided. It flowed down to her mid back. Her brown eyes sparkled. He couldn't take his eyes off of her. He didn't want to. He wished that he could stay right here with her forever. He knew that he could get in trouble for feeling like this. She looked at him and smiled. She then turned to walk away. He grabbed her arm, pulled her in close, and kissed her.

     "Obi-Wan!"
"Sorry." He said, looking at the floor.

ShiriKei turned and walked away from him. She smiled to herself as she walked towards the cockpit. She was falling for him. There was no mistake about that. She wasn't excatly sure it was what she wanted to do. She stepped into the cockpit and saw the captain sitting in the pilot's seat talking to the copilot.

     "Everything okay?" ShiriKei asked.
"Everything is fine." Gemma said. "There might be a few delays, but we'll get to Chandrila soon."
     "Okay."

ShiriKei walked out of the cockpit. She sat on the floor and brought her knees up to the chest. She rested her arms knees and laid her head on her arms. She thought about that kiss that Obi-Wan did. *This could get bad.* She thought to herself.

"I'm sorry, ShiriKei. I didn't mean to upset you with that." Obi-Wan said, sitting down beside her.
"You didn't upset me. The truth is..."

ShiriKei couldn't finish the sentence. *How can I tell him that I'm falling in love with him?* She thought. Then, Obi-Wan took her hand and held it. She looked into his beautiful blue-grey-green eyes. They smiled at each other. They were falling in love with each other. That much was true. The only thing was they knew that they both could get into a lot of trouble if the Council found out.

They sat there beside each other for a good while. ShiriKei had fallen asleep with her head laying on Obi-Wan's shoulder.

     "Hey." He whispered.
     "Huh?"
"Wake up. I think that we just came out of hyperspace."
     "Oh. Okay. Sorry about that."
     "It's okay."

Obi-Wan stood up and stuck his hand out to help ShiriKei up. She took his hand and he gently pulled her up. They walked into their room. ShiriKei picked up her robe and her lightsaber. Obi-Wan looked at her lightsaber. The hilt wasn't the usual silver color, it was black. She noticed that he was looking at her lightsaber. She held it out in front of her for him to look at it. He took it out of her hands and looked at it. There were bits of silver on it though. He handed it back to her. She took it and placed it on her belt. She put her robe on and zipped it up. She placed the hood up over her head. Obi-Wan looked at her.

"Please don't wear your robe like that."

Obi-Wan turned away from her. Seeing her with her robe like that brought back memories. Painful memories. ShiriKei unzipped her robe and pulled the hood off. She took a few steps towards him and placed a hand on his shoulder.
-Chapter 3-

Rei-Na stood in the practice room watching Anakin practice. Anakin looked at her. She took a few steps closer to him. He noticed that Obi-Wan hadn't come back in a while.

     "Who are you?" He asked.
"I'm Rei-Na Meriko, apprentice to ShiriKei Celisoe."
"I'm Anakin Skywalker, apprentice to Obi-Wan Kenobi."
     "Yes I know."
     "How?"
     "Everyone knows."
     "Have you seen him?"
"He left a few hours ago."
     "Left?"
"Yes. He and my Master left for Chandrila. There's something going on there."
"How come we aren't with them?"
"The Council just wanted them to go."
     "That's not fair."

Rei-Na just looked at Anakin and then walked away. She walked all the way to her room. She entered and the door closed shut behind her. She sat down on the edge of her bed. She wondered what her master was doing now. They had to have reached Chandrila by now. She got up and ran out of her room and headed for the Council's Chamber Room. She walked in and saw Master Adi Gallia sitting there.

     "Rei-Na."
"Master Gallia." Rei-Na said bowing, "I was wondering if my Master and Master Kenobi has checked in."
     "No. They have not."
"They haven't?! It shouldn't have taken this long to get there."
"Do not worry. They will be fine."
     "Yes, Master Gallia."
"Now go. I'm sure that Master Celisoe left some instructions for you while she was gone."

Rei-Na bowed again and walked out of the room. She took the turbolift back down to the floor that her room was on. She went into her room and sat in the floor. She sat indian style and meditated. The Force flowed into her. She sat there in a bubble of the Force. It was like nothing could penetrate the bubble and that she was be safe in the bubble forever.

Anakin stood outside the door of Rei-Na's room. He could sense for powerful she was in the Force. *She's powerful all right, but not as powerful as me.* He thought. *No one is as powerful as me.* He walked away and headed back to the practice room. He continued on with praticing with his lightsaber. A few minutes later Rei-Na walked back in with her lightsaber in hand. Anakin looked at her and sighed. He raised his lightsaber to a defensive position.

"Don't worry. I'm not even here to practice with you. I'm just doing what my Master asked me to do while she was gone."
     "Oh."

Rei-Na activated her lightsaber. The purple blade lit up the room. It was much brighter than Anakin's blue blade. She began practicing with her lightsaber. Anakin watched her. He could see some frustration in her. He continued his practice.

After about two hours of practicing, Rei-Na looked at Anakin and then walked out of the room. Not many people liked Anakin that much. He was arrogant and hotheaded. If something didnt go his way, he would throw a fit. Rei-Na didn't understand how Master Kenobi put up with him. Of course the Council did grant him permission to train Anakin. Everyone heard about that. Some of the Jedi Trainees were upset about the Council allowing him to be trained. He was 9 years old when Obi-Wan became his Master. If Qui-Gon would have lived, he would have became Anakin's Master.

Rei-Na walked back to her room. She was worried about her Master and Master Kenobi. They left a few hours ago and still hadn't checked in with the Council. It wasn't like her Master to not check in. Something wasn't right. She walked into her room and sat on her bed. The sun had already set, but the sky of Coruscant was as busy as ever. She loved watching the sunset from her room in the Jedi Temple, but she missed it tonight. If something had happened to them, the council would have told her and Anakin.

There were a few knocks at her door. She looked at the door and feared the worst. She stood up and slowly walked over to the door. The door opened and there was Anakin.

"Anakin, what are you doing here?"
"I just wanted to tell you that I thought that you were good with your lightsaber."
     "Thank you. Anything else?"
     "Have you heard anything?"
"Not yet. I don't want to bother the Council. I'll ask them tomorrow. Right now I just want to go to sleep."
     "Okay. Good night"
     "Good night, Anakin."

Anakin walked away and the door shut. She now wished that she was allowed to go with her Master. She didn't know how long they would be gone and how much longer she could put up with Anakin. She laid down on her head and drifted off to sleep. A dreamless sleep that has plagued her for a few months now. Which was fine by her.
-Chapter 4-

ShiriKei stood behind Obi-Wan with her hand on his shoulder. Something was troubling him. She didn't want to come right out and ask him. It was the way that he was standing with his back to her that made her worry about him. This was the first mission that she has ever worked with him on. She didn't know how he was normally, but she knew that he wasn't like this.

     "Obi-Wan, tell me what's wrong?"
"I can't. It's hard to explain. It's something that happened five years ago."
     "The day that Qui-Gon died?"

Obi-Wan nodded, but there was something more about it. He made a promise to Qui-Gon to train Anakin. A promise that he had to keep. Ever since that day, Anakin had shown signs of anger and hatred. He felt bad that he had to leave his mother behind on Tatoonie. Obi-Wan was beginning to doubt his abilities as a Master to Anakin. He knew that if Anakin fell to the Dark Side that he would be to blame. Sometimes he wished that he never made that promise to Qui-Gon.

"If I was just a little bit faster, Qui-Gon would still be alive."
"I know, but you cannot blame yourself for it. It was not your fault. You did your best. You have to leard that. Besides, it's not good to dwell on stuff like that. It will make you fall to the Dark Side."
     "I know." He whispered.
"Everything will be fine. No matter what happens."
"How do you know that for sure?"
     "Just trust me with this."

He turned his head and smiled at her. She returned the smile. She then walked away from him and headed for the cockpit. She looked at the planet of Chandrila out of the window. She wondered what had taken them so long in getting here. Gemma looked at her.

"Captain, what took so long in getting here?"
"As I told you eariler there were some delays which caused us to arrive later than expected."
"Ah. Okay. We will be landing soon?"
     "Yes."

ShiriKei walked out of the cockpit. Gemma looked at Dominic and sighed. These two Jedi were starting to get on her nerves. They were so damn impatient. They wanted things done right then and there. Well, this time they weren't getting their way. She nodded to Dominic. He pressed a button that would release a gas that would knock the Jedi out. The thing was that she knew that with Jedi they could hold their breaths for long periods of time. This thing about this gas was is had no color or smell. They would never detect it.

Gemma and Dominic sat and waited for a while before they walked to the room where Obi-Wan and ShiriKei stayed. They stood outside the door. They could hear the coughing and gagging of the two Jedi. They covered their mouth and nose with a mask and opened the door to the room. They saw Obi-Wan and ShiriKei laying on the floor knocked out from the gas. Dominic knelt down beside ShiriKei and picked up her lightsaber that had been taken from her belt. Gemma knelt down beside Obi-Wan and took his lightsaber.

They looked at the hilts of the lightsabers that laid in their hands. They put them into their pockets and began tieing up the Jedi. When ShiriKei came to she saw Obi-Wan knocked out and hanging across from her. She noticed that she was tied up and her lightsaber was gone. She was hanging from some overhead piping.

     "Obi-Wan." She whispered.

There was no response. She continued calling out for Obi-Wan, but he didn't respond. She sighed in despair. She didn't know how long they had been hanging there. She remembered some kind of gas filling the room. That's all that she remembered. She looked at Obi-Wan. He still hasn't come to. She then looked up at the piping that she was hanging from. It was a strange pipe. It was so smooth that even if she were to try to touch it her touch would just slide right off.

She sighed again and looked at Obi-Wan. She tapped into the Force and tried to get into Obi-Wan's mind to wake him up. It was almost impossible to do. As soon as she tapped into the Force, she felt a blow to the back of her neck. The room got dark.

She came to sitting down beside Obi-Wan on a floor tied to him. She felt so grogy. She tried to tap back into the Force. She felt nauseous. The feeling from the gas was making her sick. She wondered if Obi-Wan felt the same way. She could sense that Obi-Wan was awake. She turned her head just a little bit and kinda nudged his shoulder with her head.

     "Obi-Wan, you okay?"
     "I'm fine. You okay?"
     "Yeah. Where are we?"
"I'm not sure. I don' remember much."
     "Neither do I."

Obi-Wan tried to look around the room, but felt nauseous. He tried reaching out to the Force, but couldn't. He couldn't access the Force. *What's going on?* He thought to himself.

     "ShiriKei?"
     "What's wrong?"
     "I can't access the Force."
"What?!" ShiriKei said, trying to reach out to the Force. "I can't either. What's going on here?"
     "I don't know, but I don't like it."
"This is not good. If we can't access the Force..."
"Don't even say it. There's something blocking it. We just have to find it."
     "Obi-Wan?"
     "What is it?"
"What's that?" ShiriKei said, turning her head slightly to the right.
     "Oh no."
     "What?"

They both looked at an army of battle droids. A new kind. Not the kind that were on Naboo. Obi-Wan sighed. He wasn't liking this one bit. He tried to call the Force to him again. He couldn't. ShiriKei tried also. Both were unsuccessful. To Obi-Wan, this seemed like a page out of his past. He just couldn't put his finger on what.ShiriKei began struggling to get out of the rope that binded her and Obi-Wan together. Obi-Wan turned his head slightly. He knew that something was very wrong.

     "Obi-Wan, do you see that?"
     "See what?"
"That." ShiriKei said, tilting her to the left and nodding towards a shadow in the corner.
     "I'm not sure."

They could see something moving in the shadows of the corner. They weren't sure what it was. If they could access the Force, they would know who or what it was. Then, the shadow began moving closer towards them. It was a person. The young man had a lightsaber and the blade was extended.
-Chapter 5-

Anakin and Rei-Na stood in the middle of the Chamber Room waiting for Master Windu to speak. Rei-Na knew that something bad had happened. Anakin looked at Master Windu and sighed. He knew also. This was bad. They were only Apprentices. If their Masters were killed, they would be kicked out of the Temple or maybe another would take one of them are their Padawan. But to Rei-Na something else was very wrong. It wasn't like the Council to call both Apprentices to the Chamber Room.

"Anakin, Rei-Na, something has happened to Masters Kenobi and Celisoe. It's nothing for you to worry about. They will be fine. However, you two shall remain here. Do not, under any circumstances leave this Temple or the planet until they return."
     "Yes, Master." Rei-Na said, bowing.
     "But Mas-"
"Anakin, if you leave to help them you will hurt them more that help."
     "Yes, Master." Anakin said, bowing.

Anakin and Rei-Na walked out of the Chamber Room. Rei-Na was growing tired of Anakin. He has done nothing but follow her around and criticize everything. She knew that Anakin wanted to go to the practice room, but she didn't. She walked away from him and headed for her room. She just wanted to spend sometime alone to meditate for a while. The door to her room slid open and she stepped inside. The lights came on. She sat in the middle of her room and closed her eyes. She quieted her mind and called the Force to her.
She could sense everything that was going on around her. She could sense Anakin walking past her room. She then saw her Master sitting on the floor of a warehouse tied to Obi-Wan. She could see that Obi-Wan was unconscious and ShiriKei was sitting there trying to get him to wake up. She then saw someone walking towards them. The person hit ShiriKei on the head, but she just shook it off. The person was a young woman. She then held a blaster up at ShiriKei's head and pulled the trigger.

     "MASTER!"

Rei-Na opened her eyes and wondered about what she just saw. Has it already happened? No. Of course not. She would have felt it. So would have the Council. She just sat there hoping that her Master and Obi-Wan were okay. The Council reassured her that they would be fine. Something just wasn't right. She continued sitting in the middle of her room. She felt bad that she couldn't go and help her Master. She stood up and walked out of her room and headed for the practice room.

When she got to the practice room, she saw Anakin in there as usual. But he wasn't practicing his lightsaber skills. He was sitting on the floor up against the wall. He had his knees up to his chest and had his head laying there. Rei-Na stepped in and took her lightsaber from her belt. She ignited it and closed her eyes. Using the Force, she called a remote towards her. With it floating in the air she put the timer on two hours.

Two hours later, She had finished with that round of practice. She had noticed that Anakin was still sitting up against the wall. She knew that it was almost time for sunset. So, she deactivated her lightsaber and clipped it back on her belt. She ran out of the room and headed for her favorite spot, the balcony that she had watched many Coruscant sunsets from. She stood there very quietly and watched the sun. She could hear the skycars passing by, but it didn't matter. The sunset was so beautiful. Every time she watched a sunset, she thought about how the Republic should be, peaceful and calm. She knew that the Republic would never be that way.

She heard footsteps approaching behind her, but she didn't care. She just wanted to watch this sunset. There was something about that sunset that seemed different from any other she had ever seem.

"Rei-Na. Watching the sunset as usual?" She heard behind her.

She didn't have to turn and see who it was. It was Master Windu. He walked up and stood beside her. He knew that something was on her mind. He knew that she was worried about her Master.

"You have nothing to worry about, Rei-Na. Master Celisoe and Master Kenobi will be fine. You shouldn't worry about them."

Rei-Na didn't say anything. She just watched the sun get closer and closer to the horizon. The clouds turned shades of orange and purple. It was so beautiful. Master Windu turned to walk away.
,br>      "Master Windu, do you think that the Republic will ever be at peace?"
"Rei-Na, with the way that things are now one can only hope that things will be at peace."

Rei-Na continued looking at the sky ahead of her. She knew what he meant. The sun finally set, ending the day. She turned and walked to her room. She entered her room and sat down on the floor up against the wall. She placed her head on her knees and quietly wept. She didn't know what to do. For the first time since she had become Master Celisoe's Apprentice, she didn't know what to do. She thought about sneaking out of the Temple and heading for Chandrila to help her Master and Master Kenobi. She knew that if she were to leave without the Council's permission, she would get into serious trouble.

A few hours went by. She had fallen asleep sitting on the floor. There were a few knocks at her door. She could sense that it was Anakin. *Oh, what does he want now?* She thought. She stood up and walked towards the door. The door opened. There stood Anakin. He looked at her and smiled.

     "Yes?"
"Let's go. We are leaving for Chandrila."
"No. I'm not going to get into trouble. The Council told us to stay here."
"Do you want them to die?"
"They will not die. I have a lot of faith in my Master. You should have some in yours. They will return."
"I can sense that they are in danger."
"Anakin, the Council told us that earlier. I can sense it also. You might have more Midi-Chlorians than me and any other Jedi here, but that doesn't mean that you can tell me what to do. I have lived at this Temple all of my life. You've been here what? A few years. You haven't even had to proper training."

Anakin didn't say anything. He couldn't. She was speaking the truth and Anakin knew it. He knew that he was too old to become Obi-Wan's Apprentice, but the Council allowed it anyway. Now was one of the times that he wished that he was back on Tatoonie, with his mother. He missed her terribly. He turned and walked away from Rei-Na's room.

Rei-Na just stood there. She knew that usually he would have fired a line back at her, but this time he didn't. She stepped away from the door and it closed in front of her. She knew that he was more than likely heading for the hanger and go to Chandrila. He didn't understand that he would get into serious trouble for disobeying the Council.

She walked over to her bed and flopped down on it. She rested her head on the soft pillow and covered up with the blanket that hung over the foot of her bed. She closed her eyes and drifted off to sleep.
