For the relaunch of the DS9 book series it was decided to include an Andorian main character. Part of the reasoning was that the Andorians were a favorite species, but virtually nowhere to be found outside of a few original episodes. This was right on the cusp of Enterprise being announced, where the Andorians are becomming commonplace (and were also added to the series with the same reasoning) In the book series the Andorians were also given a very complex reproductive life based on a throwaway line from Data, who mentioned that they get married in fours. It'll be interesting ot see if any of this conflicts with anything coming from the TV series.
