After being ambushed by a very-much alive Boba Fett on Nar Shadda 6 years after Return of the Jedi, Han, Leia and Chewie escape in the Falcon, but do manage to get a bit blown up along the way. While I personally don't think Fett should have been allowed to have survived and escaped the sarlacc since it seemed to go against Lucas's original intent (everyone alive in the prequels died before the end of Episode 6) Lucas himself said that he liked the Dark Empire comic series, plus the Marvel comics in the early 80s had an issue where he escapes, only to be pulled back in again, and also for a short while I exchanged emails with the author, Tom Veitch, and he liked the sample chapter I gave him for the novel I'm working on... :)
