Well, it finally happened. Almost 600 customs and I finally gave myself a hardcore injury. In one of those Scholastic Star Wars books that I don't have, Anakin puts on a Jawa disguise. Simple headswap right? WRONG! The COMMTech Jawa's head doesn't have a peg that goes into the body, the body has a peg that goes into the head. I use 3 different knives for my customs - a razor sharp hobby knife, a reasonable sharp Awiss Army knife, and a very old, blunted Swiss Army knife. Luckily I was using the blunted one to try and pry the body from the head. Usually I can tell if I'm in a bad spot with the knife, and I'll realize that if I use too much force in the position I'm in that I'm gonna slip and cut myself. Usually I listen. This time I was getting too frustrated and I just jammed it. Well, the head seperated, but the knife drove itself diagonally about 1/4 inch into my thumb. It didn't hurt at first, so I didn't think it was too bad. I do a lot of work with my hands, so getting cuts, even ones that bleed a bit at first, are no big deal. I pressed my thumb into my shorts to stop the bleeding while I went to get a band-aid. By the time I hit open the medicine cabinet I see that I'm just gushing blood all over the place. Not only that - but my friends were on the way to pick me up to go bowling! GASP! Luckily, after my fiance got done laughing at my misfortune she prepared a gauze wrap for me and we went bowling anyway :)
