There were several Ambassador-class ships for me to make the Enterprise into, but I choose to just battle damage it, which I usually do only as a last resort. The model was modified a bit after it first showed up as the Enterprise for all it's subsequent appearences, and the Galoob ship is actually based off of the newer design. Instead of making just a regular, accurate version of the C, I decided to go ahead and damage it, especially since that's really the only way we see the ill-fated ship. I really don't see why they had to make the ship's history so short either. The B was apparently around for 80 years before the C came along, they could've split the itme difference a bit. Or course the A was only around for like two years before being retired along with the crew! Kirk gets what he wants I guess.
