I heard that in the later issues of the Marvel Star Wars title from the mid-80s (yep, it got that far) the Stormtroopers were red. In these issues (which I haven't read yet unfortunatly) the post-Endor Imperials were lead by another Dark Jedi - Lumyia, and apparently she used the red troopers.
