Years ago, before I actually started customizing, I would try and add details that were left off of the Micro Machine ships. I also totally ruined my Enterprise-D by trying to pack in too much detail on such a tiny ship. Since I got 3 more over the years I turned the first one into the late Odyssey - the Galaxy-class ship that was destroyed to show the power of the Federation's latest enemies - the Dominion (of course there was no good way to scan it to show the battle damage...). Even more tragically than depicted was the fact that since this was a Galaxy-class ship, and since they DIDN'T SEPERATE THE SAUCER, countless famlies died onboard too. I know the whole saucer-seperation thinkg was a cool idea, and even the original Enterprise was supposedly capable of it (it was mentioned in an episode) and the refit was supposed to do it in a possible ending to the first film (while being attacked by a klingon ship like in Generations), but they should really use it quite a bit more then the two times it's even been seen. During the entire duration of the Dominion War not one ship showed up sans-saucer. I know Rodenberry's original concept for the TNG era was that famlies would be onboard since now we were exploring space so far away from home, but I know they started putting troops in those quarters instead at wartime.
