This orange R2 Unit can only be seen in the model of Red 2 on the Behind the Magic CD-ROM. Other models have a blue one, like R2, and when Wedge is in the cockpit it's impossible to see it at all. This droid can also be seen in a still from Empire, also on the Behind the Magic CD.
UPDATED - I got a better orange marker so I went and repainted the droid. I think it looks a lot better now.
