Grand Admiral Thrawn

Grand Admiral Thrawn Cold, calculating, and keenly perceptive, Thrawn was one of the greatest threats ever faced by the New Republic. That an alien could achieve the rank of Grand Admiral in the pro-human Imperial military is indicative of his skill.

Thrawn's military genius had him exiled from his people. The concept of a pre-emptive strike was foreign to the Chiss, and Thrawn was viewed as a menace for his provocative ideas.

During Palpatine's ascent in power, Thrawn was a trusted agent. He was dispatched on a secret mission that saw the death of a team of Jedi Masters who sought to explore beyond the reaches of the galaxy. The destruction of the Outbound Flight project would go unsolved for decades.

It was five years after Palpatine's death that Thrawn began his campaign against the New Republic. He needed no gargantuan superweapon for his victories, for his mind was a formidable weapon. Thrawn, by studying the art and psychology of his enemies, was able to outmaneuver them time and again. It was only the betrayal of his closest bodyguard that saw his end.

Thrawn first appeared in Timothy Zahn's Heir to the Empire. His Chiss name is Mitth'raw'nuruodo. An action figure of Thrawn was included in Hasbro's "Expanded Universe" line-up.
