For more than 20 years, the whole of Star Wars, which includes A New Hope's sequel parts, (The Empire Strikes Back and Return of the Jedi)has endured as Episodes IV, V, and VI. All along, however, we've known that its creator, George Lucas, harbors more about his multipart saga and its tangled web of characters, that there is a "back story" to it all. Now, with the release Star Wars: Episode I: The Phantom Menace, the first in a trilogy of long awaited prequels, we're finally getting a glimpse of what is to come of this wonderous saga, and we'll continue to see what's in store with Episode 2.
We meet young Anakin Skywalker, the slave boy who grows up to become Darth Vader. We Meet Obi-Wan Kenobi, who will train Anakin in the mysterious ways of the Jedi and later witness his agonizing defection to the dark side. We meet the droids R2-D2 and C-3PO and find out how their mechanical paths first cross. We discover how Palpatine stealthily orchestrates to power, In the end, we gain a sense of the "menace" that awaits us in Episodes II and III.
