OVERVIEW

The TME-01 Churchill began life as the AMT-22 "Churchill" medium support tank of the Weirdo Zone.  Created in 2775 as a dedicated support tank, it was phased out when the Weirdo Zone Army reorganized into a more flexible modular fighting force.  The Churchill was then converted to Battletech S/TS technological standards and sold on the open market (local date 3051).

CAPABILITIES

The key behind this vehicle's success was its speed and firepower.   Its four five-rack long-range missile launchers had the firepower of a twenty-rack yet massed two tons less, allowing it to carry enough ammunition for four minutes of continuous fire, and its 151 kilometers-per-hour speed was blindingly fast for a support platform.  It was also graced with thirteen tons of standard armor, giving it better protection than most similarily-sized BattleMechs.  Its twin medium pulse lasers could remove threats that came within the LRM's minimum range, especially battle-armored infantry.  The Churchill's four ROTS-20 missile racks had a gatling configuration, allowing fire either is salvos or a machine-gun like stream of missiles.  Both settings generally had the same effect but the novelty of the gatling-fire mode provided Marketing with an effective sales pitch.

DEPLOYMENT

It was cautiously bought by certain mercenary firms.   After fantastic battle reports, the TME-01 was snapped up by every House and mercenary force with the cash to buy one.  Some were even purchased by the Clans for research.

VARIANTS

There are no factory variants of the TME-01, although there are undoubtedly field modifications of which we are unaware.
