OVERVIEW
The AGBH-42 "Bola" attack helicopter was a popular addition to the military of the Terran Dominion back when it still used helicopters in 2300. It was a long-lived design, surviving to become part of the Weirdo Zone's mobile calvary divisions in 2530. With the advent of effective antigravity platforms resistant to disruption, the Bola was obsolete and phased out. The Bola now, in our universe, only serves Human military museums.
CAPABILITIES
When TME Industries entered the BattleTech S/TS, it decided that the Bola would be acceptable to Inner Sphere customers who were snapping up 'Mech-busting 'copters like the Yellow Jacket. TME decided to build a more flexible version capable of taking down aerospace assets as well as ground targets and with secondary weapons to use after the ammunition for the main gun was depleted. An LB/10-X Shotgun Autocannon provides the armament, and three tons of ammunition in seperate bins allows selection between standard rounds and shotgun-like flak rounds. A medium and small laser combo rounds out the weaponry, and a good-sized engine allows the Bola to move very quickly.
DEPLOYMENT
When released to Inner Sphere customers in 3051, it became extremely popular among elite mercenary units who depended on heavy helicopters in airborne calvary units. Their support in "testimonial" ads have kept TME-02 Bola sales brisk. The Bola is most often seen in the Rasalhague Republic due to their effectiveness against Kurita aerospace assets.
VARIANTS
There are no factory variants of the TME-02, although there are undoubtedly field modifications of which we are unaware.
