OVERVIEW

The TME-108 Gumby is a heavy combat BattleMech with good combat capabilities at all ranges.

CAPABILITIES

It is relatively fast for its size, jump capable, and mounts good if unastounding firepower.  Twin long-range missile ten-racks in the torso as well as a left-forarm mounted ER large laser give the Gumby appreciable distance in its ability to damage an opponent.  Closer in, twin medium pulse lasers in the right arm provide a forceful if not devestating punch.  Finally, two small lasers act as anti-infantry weapons.

The Gumby was created by an eccentric designer who reached back into his childhood and pulled the adventures of that lovable (if not somewhat dorky) green-clay Gumby out.  Thinking that a twelve-meter titan of destruction shaped after Gumby with a goofy grin would be amusing, he put it up for acceptance.  Despite the awful lime-green color, it was accepted.  It first saw action in the Battletech S/TS as the GUM-8B Gumby heavy BattleMech and participated in a less-than successful raid on a Clan world.  Acting as the command 'Mech of a command lance and a scout lance, it came upon five heavy and assault-class Clan OmniMechs and was thoroughly trounced despite its good showing.

DEPLOYMENT

Complaints with the TME-108 unfailingly center around its awful color.  Most buyers repaint it to look like some sort of model soldier wearing a beret.  Despite being funny looking, the Gumby has achieved a sort of cult-icon status for its silly look yet solid design.

DESIGNER'S NOTE:  Good 'ol Gumby's back and he's packing heat!  Yes, Gumby is a trademark of those Clokey animation fellows.  All in fun, no profits for me, please do not sue.
