OVERVIEW

The TME-10 Menacing Fly is one of the strangest ground vehicle designs, using three ventral jets to lift its six articulated landing legs off of the ground and two rear thrusters to propel it forward.  It is often mistaken as some sort of battle armor or light 'Mech as it scuds across the battlefield.  However, the strange TME-10 was only the first shock to jaded Battletech vehicle commanders, as it was the testbed for the TME Industries new jump-capable tank, the TME-10-A Jumping Spider.   Externally identical, they are two very different vehicle due to their respective mobilities.

CAPABILITIES

The Menacing Fly is one of the faster ground vehicles in existance.  Its driver, sitting in a reclining acceleration couch, controls both the movement and the foward fixed medium pulse lasers.  The gunner sits in a reflective polarized plexiglas ball turret with the twin machine guns, working to discourage pursuit.  The Fly's motive systems take up most of the vehicle, especially in the massive rear thrust nozzles.

The Jumping Spider modifies the Menacing Fly's motive system by allowing the thrust nozzles to accept bursts of over 300% capacity for short durations of time.  A smaller, less-powerful engine had to be mounted to accept the additional equipment and heat shielding, but the upshot is that a "burst" through the hover motive system has the same effect as a standard jump jet.

DEPLOYMENT

The TME-10 models usually serve as light fast reconnaissance units.
