OVERVIEW

After the cancellation of the venerable CRD Crusader-series of BattleMechs, TME quickly took advantage of the situation and began production of the TME-112 Crusader LAM.  While the idea of a Land-Air 'Mech based on the Crusader chassis had been around for a while, the technology to do this successfully did not exist.   However, with the discovery of the Gray Death memory core as well as the Inner Sphere's technological renaissance after the Clan invasion the equipment required came about.  Extra-light fusion reactors, Endo Steel reduced-mass structural components, and double heat sinks lightened the Crusader sufficiently to mount the heavy conversion equipment needed by Land-Air 'Mechs.

CAPABILITIES

The TME-112 is very loyal to the very successful weapons loadout of the original Crusader.  Twin shoulder-mounted long-range missile fifteen-racks makes the Crusader proficient at long range combat while twin short-range missile six-racks on the hips give the Crusader devastating close-range firepower.   Twin medium and small lasers in the arms support the Crusader's arsenal and also provides it with strafing weapons while in fighter mode.  The long-range missile racks are sufficiently supplied while the short-range missile racks have twice the reloads of the original Crusader.

DEPLOYMENT

The TME-112 is slightly better armored than its predecessor and is far better protected from ammunition explosions due to the use of second-generation Cellular Ammunition Storage Equipment.  While somewhat slow for an aerospace fighter, when in Air-Mech mode it can "glide" as quickly as a Locust runs.

Many existing Crusaders are slowly being refitted into Crusader LAMs thanks to a seperate modification kit sold by TME Industries.  TME-112s see wide use in heavy recon and strategic attack wings.
