OVERVIEW
The TME-134 Kosmos is a well-armed Clan medium assault fighter based on the "Kosmos" fighter used in the Silent Death S/TS. Unlike most medium fighters, it trades speed and maneuverability for heavy firepower and armor. This makes it excellent as a poor man's assault ship.
CAPABILITIES
Two extended-range large lasers and a long-range Streak guided missile ten-rack give the Kosmos a powerfully long reach while four extended-range medium lasers can deal with anything that survives long enough to get close. Optimized for high-heat combat, the Kosmos carries enough heat sinks to fire all of its heavy weapons at once or mix them with its lighter arsenal. Its array of energy weapons give it superior strafing ability.
Nearly twelve tons of ferro-aluminum armor protect the Kosmos from enemy fire, making it popular with Clan aerospace pilots. However, the mass of this armor prevents the Kosmos from carrying a bigger engine and therefore keeps it from running away from even heavier fighters.
DEPLOYMENT
The Dart is very popular with "speed freak" pilots. As it can fly through standard atmospheres at upwards of 5,400 kilometers per hour, speed freaks are very happy with the Dart.
VARIANTS
The TME-134-A replaces the Streak LRM with a long range missile twenty-rack.
