OVERVIEW

The TME-152 Caliban is an oddly-proportioned vehicle intended to compare favorably with the CP 10-Z Cyclops.  While the Stormvanger Assemblies Cyclops is dominating at close range, the Caliban is well equipped to deal with all ranges.  Slightly less agile than the Cyclops, the TME-152 has far better armor and a much more versatile weapons load, making it suitable for front-line and fire support roles that the command-intensive Cyclops avoids.

CAPABILITIES

The Caliban's innovative legs-over-arms design, complete with targeting sensors on top of the long-range missile mountings, allows the Caliban to fire over hilltops while its pilot remains safe behind a hill as well as providing unparalleled stability for a high-recoil missile launcher system.  This unusual profile also makes the Caliban a difficult target as opponents actually tend to aim too high, aiming for a torso that should theoretically be above the legs.  The TME-MA-500 Sure-Bend myomer actuators in the legs allow this stress-bearing miracle to survive combat conditions with minimal maintenance, but inferior myomer patches and replacements often lead to leg actuator failure at the worst possible moment.  Fortunately, Sure-Bend myomer actuators can be purchased easily and inexpensively from the nearest TME branch office.

The Caliban's arsenal is a deadly mixture of short- and long-ranged missiles.  Four long-range missile five-racks attached to the pelvis of this design provides "over-the-hill" fire support, and four short-range missile six-racks in the torsos and arms can quickly beat the daylights out of an opponent careless enough to come close.  A large laser on the left arm and a particle projector cannon in the right torso can hit hard at range without overtaxing the Caliban's twenty heat sinks.

DEPLOYMENT

The TME-152 was too unconventional to win many hearts when it was first produced in 2850, but many of the Calibans produced survive today, although usually in highly altered states.  Some gifted technicians have modified the Caliban to have a conventional torso-over-legs design, which makes it nearly 16 meters tall and a very imposing sight.
