OVERVIEW
The TME-15 Barbarian is a reworking of the venerable AHPM-3 Barbarian Panzermensch of the 2500s. As BattleMechs and Panzermensches have the same overall configuration and purpose, many old decomissioned Weirdo Zone Army Panzermensches find new life as Battletech Battlemechs. The Barbarian was a multipurpose combat unit designed to engage the enemy from all ranges and win as well have superior mobility to 'Mechs of the same tonnage.
CAPABILITIES
The TME-15 initiates battles with salvos from its long range missile twenty-rack and the extended range large laser in its left arm. Carrying 360 long-range missiles, it can keep up a constant barrage for three minutes, thrice the time of most 'Mechs. When the range closes, the short range missile six-rack and the two medium lasers in the right arm take up the slack. The short range missiles can fire for five minutes straight. An anti-missile chaingun in the head quickly defeats incoming missiles. To add to its offensive firepower, the missiles are equipped with Artemis IV fire control systems to improve accuracy.
The Barbarian is above average in other aspects as well. The Barbarian has an average 43.2 kilometers-per-hour walking speed but also has a 120 meter jump capability. It is this jumping ability that puts it above par against other assault 'Mechs. The Barbarian is well protected with fourteen tons of standard armor and has fifteen double heat sinks to dissipate the heat created by its firepower. It can fire all of its offensive weapons and run without overheating. At a range of 180m, the Barbarian is truly powerful.
DEPLOYMENT
The TME-15, although not the first TME 'Mech design in the Inner Sphere (the TME-001 Killemall was first, introduced in 3000), was the best known soon after its 3052 release. Many buyers of the TME-15 return to request other TME Battlemechs, and commanders familiar with TME vehicles also ask about our Battlemechs. Eve though the TME uses proven (i.e. old) technology for the 3060s, it is still quite an item and sales have continued to be brisk.
VARIANTS
There are no longer any factory variants of the TME-15.
