OVERVIEW

The TME-163 Steamroller is a heavy Clan armor design intended to control the battlefield at all ranges.  Based on the venerable "Macarthur" battle tank of the Terran Dominion in 2300 (local date), the Steamroller has a plethora of varied weapons sticking out of multiple hardpoints on its hull.

CAPABILITIES

The Steamroller, like most assault tanks, is slow and extremely well armed.  Trading traditional TME heavy armor for massive amounts of weaponry, the Steamroller mounts an extended range particle projection cannon, a medium rapid fire autocannon, and a medium pulse laser in a turret.  The laser is mounted on the rear armor of the turret, similar to the machine guns found on ancient KV-1 tanks.   The sides of the hull extend out covering the central portion of the track and mount two medium pulse lasers in traversable mountings on each side armor plate.  Two long range missile five-racks are placed in the back of the tank to fire "over the top" in a ballistic arc, perfect for indirect suppression fire.  Finally, an extended range medium laser in the front hull covers the vital medium ranges that the Steamroller excels at.

Unusually compact for a heavy tank, the Steamroller manages to keep a low profile, which makes up for its average speed.  The hull of the Steamroller is better armored than most Clan tanks, but is still somewhat below average for a TME Industries design.  This makes the Steamroller best in areas where it can take advantage of terain.

DEPLOYMENT

The Steamroller is an uncommon sight among the Clans; for that matter, armor itself is uncommon among the Clans.

VARIANTS

Some engineers, believing that large amounts of energy weapons makes the Steamroller inefficient, created the projectile and missile-intensive TME-163-A.  It carries three Gauss rifles, each supplied with sixteen rounds, in an expanded turret that makes the top-out missile tubes useless; the side pulse lasers are replaced with long-range missile 10-racks and short-range missile 6-racks in pods (180 LR missiles and 90 SR missiles total);  and an additional extended range laser is added to the forward hardpoint.
