OVERVIEW
The TME-49 Puma destroyer is TME Industries' first WarShip design. Well armored and posessing a good amount of speed, the TME-49 is well suited for defensive actions.
CAPABILITIES
Most TME WarShips have heavy armor and spread-out arsenals that lend themselves to defensive tactics. They also usually carry more fighters and conventional weapons than their common brethren. The Puma is armed with four heavy and fourteen light naval particle projector cannons, fourteen medium naval lasers, eighty large pulse lasers and sixteen long-range missile twenty-racks with Artemis IV fire control systems. This expansive array does not depend greatly on ammunition and allows critical damage to be incurred at all ranges. As the Puma is somewhat more maneuverable than other WarShips, it mounts its heavy naval cannon offensively in the nose. The other weapons are placed along the hull in a defensive pattern.
Five small craft bays and twelve fighters provide transport and fire support. The pilots, technicians, and passengers are quartered in a special lodging section near the hangars. The passenger quarters, with their airtight doors and limited access to the rest of the ship, can also be used as quarantine bays just in case. 336 marines provide protection for the passengers and 193 crewmembers. Those lodged on the Puma are well cared for with recreational facilities and two ninety-meter diameter rotating gravity decks. A hundred lifeboats provide the possibility of escape in dangerous circumstances.
DEPLOYMENT
The TME-49 serves in the navies of major Periphery state, the Capellan Confederation, and several Clans as well. TME sells not on standard market value but on the cost to produce in raw materials in the Weirdo Zone. This, of course, leads to discount rates. The fact that in the last year TME delivered fifteen WarShips, which is somewhat more than any Successor State can build in the same amount of time, has produced curiosity about TME's origins and production power. Some of the "conspiracy theories" are humorous, some are oddly on the mark.
