Weapon Superchargers

In space combat, standard weapons are far more efficient than capital-grade weapons, yet capital weapons have the tactical edge because of their longer range.  In order to increase the effectiveness of standard weapons, TME scientists have developed weapon superchargers that increase the range of said weapons with nonexistant heat increases but high mass requirements.

ENERGY WEAPONS
Keeping high-power energy weapons coherent over long distances is highly difficult.  Using a combination of extra focusing crystals and wavelength converters, TME has more than doubled the range of the standard energy weapon.   Although less energy actually reaches the target, it is far more focused and so has the same penetrating power as the usual more energetic beam with less coherence.

BALLISTIC WEAPONS
Ballistic weapons were a simple enough fix, as velocity remains constant in space and so short ballistic ranges in space deal with targeting problems rather than a lack of armor-piercing velocity.  Advanced Newtonian targeting computers make long-range computations easy, while Gauss accelerators on heavier cannon increase the speed of high-caliber rounds to the velocities necessary for long-range combat.

MISSILE WEAPONS
Missile weapons just needed an extra push from Gauss accelerators which increased their speed dramatically.

GAME RULES

Superchargers increase the range of standard weapons to make them equal to naval weapons (Standard Short becomes Naval Short and so on) but also double the mass of said standard weapons.
