THE PEARLS THAT WERE HIS EYES
Beka picks up a message from her dead father's former business partner asking her for help. Not knowing when the message was sent, she decides to go and find him anyway. She and Trance go to a planet where they discover that the man they're looking for is now head of a huge corporation that is on the verge of joining with the second hugest corporation - big news.
Beka's 'Uncle' treats Beka and Trance to some free money and quality housing but soon starts to ask some strange questions. The man gets more and more paranoid and eventually turns on Beka. She discovers her uncle is not everything she hoped he was. The corporation he is head of actually deals a nasty drug called Flash.
Uncle Sid seems to think Beka has some data he wants but Beka doesn't know what he's talking about. After Sid forces her to take some Flash and being generally mean, Trance and Beka escape. They soon discover the data Sid was after - hidden in the kick ass nano bots Beka has in her hair that make it change colour. The data was actually video footage of Sid and Beka's dad involved in a murder. (Not Beka's dad's fault of course)
Sid has taken control of Maru, however, and plans to drive it into a sun while he is safely on his planet. But Beka tells him if she dies, the video data gets sent to the authorities (whoever they may be.) Sid reluctantly lets them go knowing Beka will always have power over him.

Review
The second 'Beka episode' to
focus on her family (Well, kinda). Beka gets the message from her father's
friend asking for help and Beka rushes to the rescue with Trance, only to find
that the message was recorded years ago and now the guy is a rich executive of a
company that's gotten everyone addicted to a drug called Flash.
While we try and work out what's
going on with Beka's 'uncle', he is being paranoid and thinking that Beka and
Trance know more than they actually do.
When Beka realises that her uncle
thinks this, she thinks about what the secret could be. But before she can work
it out, he imprisons her and Trance.
In my opinion their escape was a
little too easy and the episode was a bit all over the place. Once again Trance
beat the odds and got the code right to escape the first time.
When Beka finally discovered what
her uncle wanted, it was a bit of an anticlimax. The nano bots in her hair were
a cool idea though, I'd love having those!
This episode was ok, but not
enough action as far as I'm concerned.
