STAR-CROSSED
Andromeda comes across a ship in distress but before they can reach it, it is destroyed. There is only one survivor - an android, Gabriel (Micheal Shanks), who was a teacher on the ship. The ship was apparently attacked by an ancient High-guard ship, the Balance of Power, gone insane who goes around destroying threats to the Commonwealth. But seeing as it’s insane, that pretty much means everyone, including the Andromeda.
Rommie finds herself falling for Gabriel - until he turns out to be the avatar of the Balance of Judgement. Andromeda doesn't know
whether to trust him or not when he tells her that he is a seprate being from the Balance of Power.Eventually the Andromeda is able to destroy the enemy ship but Rommie makes a heartbreaking discovery. The Balance of Power transferred its personality to Gabriel moments before it was destroyed. Rommie makes an agonising decision to kill Gabriel.

Review
Michael Shanks is good as
Gabriel. It’s nice to see him playing something other than the archaeologist
that we know and love from Stargate SG-1.
Once again one of the characters
of Andromeda is making rash decisions about love. First it was Dylan sleeping
with the Nietzchien bride-to-be, and now Rommie falls in love with Gabriel in an
instant. It seems groundless to fall in love with him simply because he is a
ship’s avatar in a physical body like her. Nevertheless, she managed it.
This story seemed to be another
attempt at a love story but it didn’t take with me. Plus the whole - if you
love them you have to kill them thing - has been done to death (No pun
intended.)
It was nice to see Lexa/Andromeda having an episode of her own though.
