Synopsis: Jack gets stranded on a god-forsaken farming planet and That Woman tries to get her grubby little mitts on him. Back on Earth, Sam works for three months just to bring him home.
(Not commented on yet fully because I haven’t stockpiled enough alcohol and chocolate to watch it with yet. However, random comments include:)
Janet so knows
Sam loves him
Technically it is a problem. Because if you think about it, the frat regs prevent them from acting on their feelings, but not actually having them. But it’s having the feelings which causes the problems that the frat regs are trying to prevent, surely?
Denial is a river in Egypt (very appropriate considering the basis of this show)
We don’t actually know if Jack did the nasty with That Woman
She’s NOT pregnant. It could have been indigestion (Straight from the horse’s mouth – I forget which horse though!)
My verdict: Be it not for the fantastic Janet and Sam scene then this would have gone straight to the same pit in Netu where I’ve tried to send all copies of “Brief Candle” (Sorry to anyone who liked it.) Still, it does provide a basis for some wonderful angst fics.
Best line: “You miss him.” “Yeah.” “Is that a problem?” “No, of course not.” Sam and Janet
Best scene: Actually, from a technical point of view, the wonderful shot of Jack in his canoe when the “Three months later” comes up. From a shippy point of view, the Sam and Janet scene (no, not that sort of shippy point of view)
Jack’s words of wisdom: I don’t think he said anything worth recording in this episode. Okay... “Teal’c! You are one hell of a stubborn son of a bitch!”
