Prophecies

The Master & Buffy

"Prophecies are tricky creatures... they don't tell you everything..."

Because the show is no longer, spoilers have come to an end. However, I am keeping this section open for links to interviews with cast and crew, any info I may find in regard to plans for a spin off, and any spoiler information for Angel... Afterall, the show is still part of the Buffy Universe.

MSN has an interview with ASH about being Giles and the future possibility of Ripper

MSN Entertainment has an interview with Joss Whedon on his seven year run with Buffy, the upcoming season 4 DVD, and plans for the future.

***

In an interview with TV Guide Online Joss Whedon talks about why Anya had to die, Spike's sacrifice and future ressurection on Angel, and the message behind the "Cookie Dough" speech.

"We're not going to end it by saying, 'There can be no "Buffy" no more,"' Whedon said. "But it definitely has a message of emotional and thematic closure that's as important as anything we've said."

UPN execs have indicated their interest in a spinoff of "Buffy," and Whedon said he's willing. The timetable is up in the air, however. While UPN would no doubt prefer a new series as early as this fall, "I think ideally the best thing to do would be to wait and not rush anything," Whedon said. "There are paradigms that I've posited that could start next year ... (but) whatever came next, it would have to have at its center an idea as worthy as ('Buffy' and spinoff 'Angel') were. And somebody who's pretty."

Though UPN doesn't have the rights to a "Buffy" follow-up, Whedon said the network "came through for us at a time nobody would."

Faith Spinoff Unlikely February 25, 2003

Variety reports that Eliza Dushku has signed on for a pilot for Fox, about a young woman with paranoramal abilities she uses to change events and save lives. This probably means a Faith-centric spinoff is unlikely, but there's been no official word either way.

From Spoiler Slayer:

Willow The Wicca?

Dark Horizons is reporting that a spin-off centered around Willow could be a possibility for next season. However, they are dubious of this information.

Dubious Willow Rumour: Craft Christ heard from a 'reliable' source that UPN look set to do a "Willow" series for the 2004 TV season. Alyson Hannigan is apparently attached to play the character again. The studio decided to look into the idea, once the "Faith" spin-off idea bit the dust. It won't be happening instantly but he's told by the Fall they'll be rolling on something. I'll keep my ear to the ground, but I wouldn't put much faith in this rumor at the moment.

TV Guide makes mention of Joss Whedon's comment about Spike moving to 'Angel", when asked about this last Thursday his response was "We have made no decision about that — at all". Did Joss lie, did things change? In either event it would seem moot, since WB is plastering James all over the cast list. Plus, David Greenwalt even admits that Spike will be moving to Los Angeles (in an interview on Zap2It), although the Buffy finale might make that seem a bit 'problematic'.

I have seen stories which have Charisma Carpenter announcing that she is quitting the series, but I have not seen anything legit enough to post at this time.

Finally, rounding out the news, there is word on 'True Calling' (Eliza Dushku) and it's place in the Fox line-up for next season. The New York Daily News reports that it will be on Thursday evenings.

In an interview with UPN news, Sarah Michelle Gellar told reporters that she felt there was more to be told between Angel and Buffy. In my opinion, it sounded like SMG is planning some guest appearances on Angel next season.
