This was the first Godzilla. Godzilla was originally a legend of the people of Oto Island, known as Gojira, which in term means whale that walks like a gorilla. The islanders were so frightened of him, that they sacrificed a young girl to him once a year, putting him into the ranks of the oriental dragon. A research team went to Oto Island to look at the destruction caused by Godzilla the night before. Godzilla soon appeared on the island, towering of a hill. After the incident on the island, the Japanese decided to use depth bombs to destroy Godzilla, but to no avail. Godzilla followed the ships back to Tokyo Bay, and waded ashore when everyone was rejoicing, and proceeded to destroy the dock. While he was destroying the dock, he smashed a train and many warehouses, and then he left. He soon returned, and destroyed almost all of Tokyo, and then he returned to Tokyo Bay. A great scientist named Serizawa had invented an invention known as the Oxygen Destroyer. After thinking it over long and hard, he decided to use it on Godzilla. Dr. Serizawa and a young sailor named Ogata placed it in Tokyo Bay. The oxygen destroyer was set off by the mighty foot of Godzilla, and the scientist dissolved along with the relic of the prehistoric age.
