Summary: H/D slashy angst. Short.
Harry has to get very close to be able to focus without his glasses. That’s why he’s leaning so close that he can feel his breath washing back as he almost pants against Draco’s wrist. He isn’t trying to arouse the other young man by this warmth at this sensitive part of his body; he’s checking that the smear of black he’s sure he saw on Draco’s inner arm is the tattoo of defiance that he claims. It’s a delicate tracery of black, like a piece of filigree he once saw in a museum, and he might have thought it was the Dark Mark if he hadn’t seen too many of them. But he has. And it isn’t.
“Told you,” Draco says, and Harry can hear the smirk in his voice even though he can’t make it out when he glances up, seeing only vague smudges in place of the delicate features he knows are there. He sighs and feels his fringe drifting across Draco’s skin as he shakes his head. “You could still be a Death Eater,” he says. Long fingers curl under his chin and raise his head to gaze at Draco. “I’m not,” the blond tells him, voice filled with sincerity, only the tiniest undercurrent of lust slipping through. He steps away, though, and Harry clambers quickly to his feet.
“Accio spectacles,” Draco says, lazily pointing his wand across the room, and catches the delicate things deftly in his other hand. “Yours, I believe?” he says to Harry with (Harry is almost sure) a raised eyebrow. He reaches out with an open hand to receive them, but instead pulls the slighter boy towards him, close enough that he can focus on every detail of his face. He can see the lush eyelashes and the moistened mouth. He can watch as the pupils dilate in desire and the lips part in invitation.
He can step back and put on his glasses, putting a barrier between himself and the soft-edged world of desire. He can pick up his wand, turn his back, and leave.
