Explanation of the conversion:
History: Synch was one of several young mutants who were detected by
Professor Xavier with the aid of Cerebro. Everett Thomas grew up as a
straight-A student in St. Louis before his mutant power emerged. After his
power manifested, the Phalanx entity known as Harvest attempted to capture
Everett to experiment on him through the process of the assimilation of
mutants. Everett defended himself by unwittingly duplicating the powers of
Banshee, who was nearby at the time. He was
rescued by Banshee, the White Queen, Jubilee, and Sabretooth, and assisted them in the
rescue of the mutants Husk, M, Skin, and Blink from
Harvest in California.
Soon after the encounter with Harvest, Everett enrolled at the newly
reopened Massachusetts Academy, where he joined the mutant team Generation
X, and encountered numerous adversaries, including the villain known as
Emplate.
When the team encountered Emplate the second time, Everett, now known as
Synch, was turned by Emplate into a creature like him that feeds on the bone
marrow of mutants for survival. Emplate teleported Everett to St. Louis,
where he attempted to turn his family into creatures like himself and
Emplate. He was rescued by a combination of his own reluctance to bring harm
to people he knows, and the assistance of the Generation X members Husk, M,
and Jubilee. Synch is currently free of Emplate's influence, but the
long-term effects of that influence, if any still exist, remain to be
seen.
When the school started to suffer from financial trouble, Emma Frost brought
in her sister Adrienne to help run things. Adrienne had hired Paladin
to retrieve a sword that had killed her husband from a man named Noy in
Mandipoor. Paladin showed up having been defeated by the Rising Sons,
super-mercenaries working for Noy. Synch and several other members of
Generation X joined Paladin in returning to Mandipoor and retrieving the
sword (Generation X #52-54).
While there Synch was able to use his powers
to duplicate the powers of Rising Sons member Nightwind.
Although originally attracted to fellow Generation X member
Jubilee, Everett started dating M II when she showed interest in him (Generation X
#67).
During a riot at the school Synch tossed him self on to a bomb to save others.
Powers: Everett is able to manipulate his mutant aura to synch
in with those of other mutants in the area around him. This enables
him to duplicate their mutant powers. He has shown the ability to utilize
powers he duplicates in ways the original owner may not of thought of,
and has successfully duplicated two mutants powers at the same time,
combining them. By extending his aura and feeling for other mutants
in the area he can sense their presence and track specific mutants
he knows. When Synch uses his powers, a multi-colored aura appears around his body.
The aura is caused by the energies he is absorbing splitting the ambient
light around him, which causes the described effect.
