Conversion Notes: This package represents the minimum abilities of a young (16 to 25 year old) black dragon from the Advanced Dungeons & Dragons role playing game. This write-up uses Champions 5th edition rules.
Black dragons are one of the smaller and weaker of the common dragon types. It has average intelligence. Although it can survive in any climate, it prefers swamps. They can breath a line of acid or attack with their powerful claws and bite.
Although generally considered an evil race of dragons, player characters can play any alignment.
Black dragons are abusive, quick to anger, and resent intrusions of any kind. They like dismal surroundings, heavy vegetation, and prefer darkness to daylight. Although not as intelligent as other dragons, black dragons are instinctively cunning and malevolent.
At birth, a black dragon's scales are thin, small, and glossy, but as the dragon ages, its scales become larger, thicker, and duller, which helps it camouflage itself in swamps and marshes.
Like most dragons they can live for over 1000 years, see in the dark, sense the presence of invisible things, are immune to sleep and hold spells, and have large wings which allow flight.
