Early days. He is the youngest of three sons and has Polish ancestry. His father is a Boston internist Dr. Ronald Krasinski, MD, and his mother, Mary, is a nurse. Young Krasinski was a voracious reader and was also fond of acting. He graduated from Bowen Elementary School and then from Newton South High School in 1997. John has two older brothers: Kevin, a doctor, and Paul, a strategic consultant.
In 2002, he finished his study at Brown University as playwright with honors (with an A.B. in Literature and in English) and later studied one semester at the Eugene O'Neill National Theatre Institute in Waterford, Connecticut.
Career. John Krasinski began his TV career in 2002 as an intern on NBC’s late night talk show “Late Night With Conan O’Brien.” Also in 2002 he appeared in Hans Canosa's film called Alma Mater and starred in Dori Oskowitz's short film Fighting Still Life.
Krasinski's feature film credits include Kinsey, 2004 (starring Liam Neeson), Matt Mulhern’s Duane Hopwood which premiered at the Sundance Film Festival and in Tim Story's Taxi, 2004 (starring Queen Latifah). He appeared in Sam Mendes' Jarhead, 2005 (starring Jake Gyllenhaal), and had a supporting part in Nancy Meyers' The Holiday, 2006 (starring Cameron Diaz, Jude Law and Kate Winslet) . Krasinski also had cameos in For Your Consideration, 2006 and Bill Condon’s Dreamgirls, 2006 (starring Eddie Murphy). His next film is License to Wed with Mandy Moore and Robin Williams. Krasinski will also be the voice of Sir Lancelot in the upcoming movie Shrek the Third, Gideon in Jason Carvey's crime action film A New Wave, and Brevan in Smiley Face. He also wrote and directed a film adaptation of David Foster Wallace's Brief Interviews with Hideous Men which was filmed in winter 2006. His next movie appearance will be in Leatherheads, 2007 (starring George Clooney and Renée Zellweger), directed by George Clooney. Among Krasinski’s television credits- besides his featured role of bright, friendly, easy-going Jim Halpert on NBC’s Emmy Award-winning sitcom The Office- are appearances on Law & Order: Criminal Intent, Ed, American Dad, and an episode of CSI: Crime Scene Investigation. He has also narrated a series of commercials for Ask.com starting in March 2006 as well as a commercial for the Apple TV in April 2007. Krasinski was recently featured in People Magazine's Sexiest Men Alive issue of 2006 as one of 15 sexiest men. He is currently sharing time between his residence in New York City, and Los Angeles, where "The Office" (2005) is filmed.
