Born:  December 1, 1976, Zywiec, Poland

Early days. His father, Jozef Adamek, died in a bus accident when Tomasz was only two years old. Tomasz and his four sisters were raised by their mother. Adamek began boxing at age 12 in boxing club Goral Zywiec with his trainers Stefan Gawron and Stanislaw Orlicki.

Amateur highlights. 1995 and 1996 Poland Amateur Middleweight champion. 1997 2nd Poland Amateur Light heavyweight Champion. 1998 European Amateur Boxing Championships in Minsk (Bronze medal). During his amateur career won 108 out of 120 fights. Adamek turned pro in 1999.

Professional career. Adamek made his professional boxing debut in 1999 winning by TKO in first round.
Light Heavyweight Adamek won the WBC light heavyweight title defeating Paul Briggs in May 2005. In October 2005, he defended his title against German boxer Thomas Ulrich by knockout in Round 6. He then defended his title in a rematch with Paul Briggs in 2006, again winning by majority decision. Adamek lost his first fight Chad Dawson in February 2007. Immediately following the loss to Dawson, Adamek decided to move up to the cruiserweight division.
Cruiserweight He beat Pineda by TKO to become the IBO cruiserweight champion. He successfully defended his title against Josip Jalusic in December 2007 . In April, 2008 Adamek defeated former cruiserweight champion O'Neil Bell. In December 2008 he fought Steve Cunningham. Knocking Cunningham down three times, he won the IBF cruiserweight championship and the Ring Magazine Cruiserweight. Adamek successfully defended his title against Jonathon Banks in February 2009. He then went on to defeat Bobby Gunn. He vacated the IBF cruiserweight championship in October, 2009 choosing to move up to the heavyweight division.
Heavyweight In October, 2009 Adamek defeated Andrew Golota by TKO to win the IBF International heavyweight title. Then, in February, 2010 he defeated Jason Estrada. Adamek then took on heavyweight contender Chris Arreola in April 2010 and won in round twelve. He defeated the USA boxer Michael Grant in August, 2010 and then defeated the USA boxer Vincent Maddalone via TKO.

Private. He got married in 1996 and has two daughters: Roksana and Weronika. The family moved to Kearny, NJ, USA in 2000. In 2005 Adamek was accepted to MS studies of administration.
