Alexander Rozhenko

Growing up partially human and mostly Klingon is difficult enough, but when one is the son of famed Federation officer Worf and the late Klingon ambassador K'Ehleyr, the future is very daunting indeed.  The first time Alexander sees his father is when he and his mother beam over to the U.S.S. Enterprise-D and are greeted by Worf.  The older Klingon is surprised to find that he has a son at all, and he awkwardly tries to instruct the child in how to be an honorable warrior.  When K'Ehleyr is killed by a traitorous Klingon, young Alexander learns the pain of death.  And although his father finaly accepts him as his son, Alexander is sent to live with his adopted human grandparents on Earth.

Sometime after his introduction to his son, Worf is surpised when his Mother, Helena, brings Alexander back to hi, saying that the boy is too much for them to handle and that he needs to stay with his father.  After some consideration, as well as counseling from Deanna Troi, Worf agrees to allow Alexander to stay with him aboard the Enterprise.  In the years that follow, Alexander learns much from his father about Klingon customs, and about how to live among non-Klingons.

When Worf is paralyzed and decides to undergo an experimental treatment, Alexander stands by his side.  Later, Alexander learns about responsibility, surprisingly enough, from Lwaxana Troi.  The young Klingon child quickly becomes a favorite of crew members as well, once having them accompany him on this favorite holodeck adventure, set in the "Ancient West" of Earth.  There, Deputy Alexander aided Sheriff Worf and the mysterious Durango (Troi) against a group of malevolent holodeck Datas.

No lesson is as important to young Alexander as the one he teaches himself.  While visiting a Klingon outpost with his father, the two are attacked by assassins.  Father and son are saved by a mysterious older Klingon named K'Mtas, who is later revealed as Alexander from forty years in the future!  In K'Mtar's reality, Alexander's pacifism caused Worf's assassination.  The elder Alexander has traveled back in time to avert this by influencing his younger self's future.  Young Alexander must decide for himself which path to follow... that of peace, or the way of a Klingon warrior.
